Based on Michael Morpurgo's 1982 novel, Steven Spielberg directed the 2011 film Combathorse" about a thoroughbred horse named Joey. The story begins with Joey's birth and then training with a boy named Albert. However, when Albert's father sells Joey to the army when they need money to pay rent after a rainstorm destroys their crops, Albert watches his horse go to war.
Then Combat Horse shows Joey's work in the war and Albert ends up enlisting in the army when he comes of age. As expected, Albert reunites with Joey. Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Marsan lead the cast, with Jeremy Irvine as Albert. This film about horses received six Oscar nominations.
9. Favorite (2003)
Favoriteis a 2003 horse racing film based on the story of a thoroughbred champion who was the most profitable racehorse until the 1940s. However, Favorite was much more than just a steed. The horse was also small and became a symbol of hope for Americans during the Great Depression.
The 2003 film was not the first to feature Favorite's life, as there was a film about Shirley Temple in 1949 prior to this adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand's horse book. 8. Black Horse (1979)
One of the best children's books of all time about horses was "Black stallion » Walter Farley. In 1979, five years after its release, the novel was made into a film. A story about a boy shipwrecked on an island with an Arabian stallion and his friendship with a horse.
When they are rescued by a fishing boat, they return home but remain in contact. Black is soon taught to be a racehorse and proves to be fast, while Alec trains to be a jockey. This film about horses was awarded two Oscar nominations; one for actor Mickey Rooney and one for film editing.
7 The Horse Whisperer (1998)
Originally released in 1995, the filmHorse Whisperer" was directed by Robert Redford. Based on the 1995 novel by Nicholas Evans, Redford plays a horse trainer known as the "Horse Whisperer" who can help a young girl (a teenage Scarlett Johansson) understand horses.
The film opens with Grace and her horse having an accident that injured her and her horse and killed her friend and her horse. Grace has a partially amputated leg and is bitter when her horse is injured. Tom Booker enters and helps the girl recover by helping her horse.
6. Champion (2010)
While Seabiscuit was the racehorse that rose to prominence in America during the Great Depression, Secretariat is still known as one of the most successful Thoroughbred racehorses of all time. He has won five Eclipse Awards and is second only to Man o' War on the National Racing Museum and Hall of Fame's list of the greatest racehorses of the 20th century.
In 2010, a film telling the story of this amazing horse was brought to the big screen by Disney. Released by DreamWorks Animation in 2002, the film "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" is an interesting film about horses. It was enough to impress critics and earn an Oscar nomination. Having said that, Matt Damon told Spirit's thoughts, so it was.

Joe Johnston ("Rocketeer") brought to the big screen the film "Hildago" in 2004. This is a biographical western about Frank Hopkins and his horse Hidalgo. Hopkins, in real life, was a professional rider who was a long-distance rider who supposedly won 400 races; although most of his claims were thought to be fictitious as he was also a circus performer.
The film itself took his exploits seriously, focusing on horse racing in Arabia in 1891. Viggo Mortensen played Hopkins, and although the film was "based on a true story," many of Hopkins' stories, including the horse races in this film, were considered fables.
3. National Velvet (1944)
Novel "National velvet» was published in 1935 and tells the story of a girl named Velvet who trained and rode her horse Pie in the Grand National Steeple Chase. Despite being a fictional book, it was about ordinary people, and in this case, about a woman in her 20s who achieved impressive results. A movie based on the book was released in 1944.

Released in 2005, the film "Dreamer" was a family film about a horse trainer and his daughter, and how their relationship changes when they work with horses. Kurt Russell is Ben, a father who neglects his young daughter as he works hard taking care of his horses. Eleven-year-old Dakota Fanning is his daughter.
One horse - Soñador - bonds the two and finally helps cement their relationship after years of neglect and hardship. The film was nominated for a number of awards including Best Sports Film at the ESPY Awards and Best Family Film at the Critics Choice Awards.
