Jarhead there are impressive visuals and cinematography depicting the war. Gyllenhaal also delivered an impressive performance as Swofford, earning him a Satellite Award nomination for Best Actor in a Drama. Three sequels have been made since the original film's release, and they have had direct-to-video releases.

8. Requiem For A Dream (2000)

Psychological drama tells about four people whose lives were overwhelmed by drug addiction. Their addictions end up taking their toll on their lives as they experience tragic and horrific consequences. Although the film is mainly about drug addiction, it also touches on topics such as loneliness and the difficulty of accepting reality.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky,Requiem for a Dream" is one of the most well thought out, yet one of the most difficult films to watch. The film is known for its brilliant and creative visuals, editing and music, as well as its deeply disturbing content. The drama was attended by talented actors Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, Marlon Wayans and Ellen Burstyn, who were nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress.

This drama is about a high school teenager who is a talented basketball player. Unfortunately, school stress and basketball cause the teen to turn to heroin and eventually develop an addiction to it. As he continues to risk his future for drugs, he turns to a friend who can help him get over his addiction.

"Diary of a Basketball Player" based on the autobiography of Jim Carroll. Leonardo DiCaprio portrayed Carroll in the film and was praised for his performance. Despite mixed reviews, it is considered one of the best basketball films ever made.

5. The Hurt Locker (2009)

Stormlord recounts the experiences and lives of three soldiers in the Iraq War. When a sergeant and specialist lose their staff sergeant after he is killed by an IED, a new master sergeant joins their team. However, this master sergeant works in non-standard ways that are not appropriate or considered safe for his teammates.

Starring Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie Stormlord was one of the best films of its time and one of the best war films released in the 21st century. The film excels thanks to Kathryn Bigelow's impeccable direction, Renner's memorable performance and disturbing action scenes. The war film received nine Oscar nominations, including Best Actor for Renner. She won six of these awards, such as Best Picture and Best Director for Bigelow (and notably, she was the first woman to win the prestigious award).

The crime drama takes a non-linear storytelling stylistic approach with powerful and emotional performances by Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Benicio Del Toro. Both Watts and De Toro were nominated for Oscars for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor.

Four men from Boston are known for having robbed several banks. However, their plans to continue the heists become problematic when the leader of the group falls in love with a bank employee hostage in one of their heists and wants to leave his life of crime for good. On the other hand, the FBI is looking for them as they plan their next target.

V city thieves there's Ben Affleck, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall and Jon Hamm. Affleck also directed and wrote the film, in which he received compliments for his work. The crime drama was voted one of the best films of 2010 by the National Review Board, and Renner was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Jolie fully embodied the role of Gia, and her emotional performance earned her a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award.Gia considered one of Jolie's best films to date. It also helped her become one of the best actresses in Hollywood.
