You'll soon start to wonder how a show with such graphics, such poetic and such bizarre display ran on NBC for three seasons.

One of the best comedy shows of the 21st centuryDan Harmon scommunity is an inventive, emotional act of meta sitok storytelling that defies any mere categorization and qualification. The base setting follows the quirky students of Greendale, an increasingly ludicrous community college where the study group bands together and embarks on increasingly ludicrous misadventures. But it's a lot funnier, weirder, and more heartfelt than you might expect, the genre-shifting meta-narratives that made Harmon's animated sci-fi movie "Rick and Morty" so famous to the fullest.

This is one of the most touching shows about how to find yourpeople, it earns some of the highest laugh minute awards in comedy TV, and it spans the gamut of a talented team that lets you move from genre to genre without flinching.Community had the Russo brothers before the MCU,Community there were meow meow beans beforeBlack Mirror released "Downfall" and it highlightederudite abilities of Donald Glover long before Childish Gambino became a household name. Maniac

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Patrick Somerville

Limited Series "Maniac" is unlike anything else on TV, especially because "True Detective" and headBonda 25 Cary Fukunaga directed all 10 episodes. The series is set in a slightly more advanced version of Earth, in which two repressed and repressed people—played byEmma Stone andJonah Hill - take part in a mind-blowing pharmaceutical trial designed to cure them of their illnesses. During the challenge, they mentally act out various fantasies and scenarios, which then gives Fukunaga the opportunity to trade in different genres as Stone and Hill play out different versions of themselves in everything fromthe Coen brothers.-esque crime story set in a fantasy world similar to "Lord of the Rings". It's a bit uneven, admittedly, but the performances are fantastic and it's a really unique twist on sci-fi drama.

If only all reality shows were this good. Matryoshka life

Creators: Leslie Headland, Natasha Lyonne and Amy Poehler

Cast: Natasha Lyonne, Greta Lee, Yul Vasquez, Charlie Barnett and Elizabeth Ashley

Netflix's next great booze-worthy show has arrived, and it's a sassy, uplifting series with just the right amount of soul."Russian doll", newbreathtaking series fromNatasha LyonneAmy Poehler andLeslie Headland, is a brilliant tale of morality and mortality in which he findsideal a balance between sincerity, edgy comedy and wild genre flourishing. In the first episode, we meet Nadia (Lyon); an acerbic, avid software engineer in rockstar rock movies gets trapped in a time loop that moviegoers quickly recognize;groundhog day the format is a gargle replay where the protagonist is forced to learn the lesson of life in order to break the loop.

If you think the concept of a time loop is familiar to you,Russian Doll far ahead of you. This is a show that recognizes what it owesgroundhog day, and constantly adjusts his hat. From the release date - the series hit Netflix the day before the actual Groundhog Day - to the worm song waiting for Nadia every time she reboots. Not “I got you, baby”, but an absurdly cheerful “We need to get up”Harry Nilsson.

Tightly built of eight episodes, each no more than 30 minutes long, "Russian doll» holds tightly in his hands and never lets go. It moves fast and, especially in the first few episodes, makes you feel like you're going through real-time madness with Nadia. It's pure drinking-watching magic; a show that is not only professionally designed to entice viewers to move on to the next episode, but is just as important in the integrity of the plot and character. Try to reveal the charms"Russian doll, if you can, but if you miss all eight episodes (like I did), don't worry. Like Nadia, you will probably just go back to the beginning and start over.

I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson

Creators: Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin

Cast: Tim Robinson

Netflix is so perfect for sketch comedy that I'm a bit shocked that it's taken so long for a sketch comedy program to finally appear, especially one as weird and unique as "I think you should go with Tim Robinson.". Since the show doesn't have to worry about commercial breaks, sponsorships, or anything else, it's possible to be very weird and quirky in the most wonderful ways. Robinson, former writerSaturday Night Live", brings his unique comic voice to a series of unforgettable sketches that may or may not hit, but when they hit, they're incredibly funny. If you like your comedy bizarre, twisted and faulty, you're easy boozeI think that you should leave in one sitting.

Sex education

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Laurie Nunn

Cast: Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Nkuti Gatwa, Emma McKee, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Alistair Petrie

For most people, being a teenager is awkward, weird, random, and confusing. 8-episode Netflix series "Sex Education", createdLori Nunn, not only understands this, but also fully relies on it. In the TV seriesAsa Butterfield plays Otis, the sixth former schoolboy (for Americans - a high school student - the series is set in the UK), who opens an underground therapy clinic for his peers. Or, as one classmate describes him, he is "that weird sexy Victorian ghost kid."

If it wasn't already clearsex education very clear. There is a lot of frank discussion about sex and anatomy, as well as full nudity. Most of the episodes revolve around some kind of deal of the week that is cold teased, although the show uses this to develop its main narratives and does not always end with an hour when the problem is solved. Otis' advice to his classmates is also usually more about their psyche and expectations than about sexual positions. "What makes you feel like you should give your boyfriend a blowjob?" he asks one "client" and asks another to name five things she likes about herself. The show tries to normalize a lot of preferences, including not having sex at all.

sex education, perhaps, like Otis, more charming than it has a right to be, making it very easy to feel emotionally involved in the lives of these kids (and a select few adults) who are all just trying to figure themselves out. Its pre-inclusion of sex in a real and legitimate way (rather than just for comedic effect) also sets it apart from other coming-of-age stories or teen comedies. always solid. People hold grudges, hearts are broken, and not all stories of unrequited love end happily. Butsex education are not only triumphs, times when things go well, but also the consequences of emotional vulnerability that ultimately make this watch happy and fulfilling

Dell

Tearing a page out of cryptic books like"Maze Runner" and everythingrest, J. J. Abrams calls his nameThe Hollow draws you in from the start, quickly establishing that Mira, Kai, and Adam are strangers who must work together if they are to stay alive. You don't have much time to ask questions, which means that by the time you see if the trio can cooperate and avoid an immediate threat, you've probably already grown attached to their characters.

The Hollow really does well, rewarding viewers who watch all 10 episodes to see how the mystery is finally solved; there are no breathtaking ones here. Just for mystery and benefitThe Hollow worth a look.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Ryan Murphy

"The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story" It's not the show you're thinking of. The limited edition was marketed as a show about glitz, gamut, and fame, but it's actually american psycho a figurative portrait of a fun-killer that hones in on the issues surrounding homophobia and self-hatred. In 1997 fashion designer Gianni Versace (Edgar Ramirez) was shot by a man named Andrew Cunanan (Darren Criss). As it turned out, this was only part of the story, and"The Assassination of Gianni Versace"unfolds in the opposite direction (each episode unfolds before the events of the previous one - rememberMemento, but as a TV series) as it tracks other Cunanan murders and delves into his private life, trying to understand what caused this young man to become so violent in such a public manner. Documentary Today!

Creators: Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers and Rhys Thomas

Cast: Bill Hader, Fred Armisen and Helen Mirren

One of the most delightfully pleasant surprises of 2015 was the IFC comedy series "Documentary Now!which is the brainchild ofBill HaderFred ArmisenSeth Meyers andRhys Thomas. The imposture of the series is something like a mock anthology, in which each half-hour episode takes the format of a well-known or revolutionary documentary genre and receives a comedic treatment through Hader and Armisen. The result is a series of fun games that cover everything fromgray gardens beforethin blue line andFor music., but perhaps the show's main opus (at least for now) is VICE's grand spoof of "DRONEZ: The Hunt for El Chingon."Documentary now!- it's simple and clear, you should definitely watch it, especially if you are a cinephile persuasion.

Mind hunter

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Joe Penhall

Cast: Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv, Hannah Gross and Kotter Smith

mindhunter, executive producer and presenterDavid Fincher, is one of the best new TV shows of 2017. The series is based on a true story and follows the early days of the FBI's crime profiling unit in the late 1970s. Two FBI agents from the FBI Behavioral Research Unit - Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff ) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany)) – interviewed incarcerated serial killers to see if they could understand why they did what they did, to help create a profile for the FBI to catch such killers. The show is methodical, wildly addictive and surprisingly funny, with Fincher himself directing four of the first season's 10 episodes, resulting in a terrific movie. It's a gripping series that refuses to take the easy or beaten paths, instead finding entirely new ways to chronicle stories that have been told countless times, and as a result offering an entirely new understanding of human behavior. Oh yes, and thisdelightfully interesting.

Hap and Leonard

Creator: Jim Mickle, Nick Damici

Cast: James Purefoy, Michael K. Williams

Based on the Joe R. Lansdale series of novelsHap and Leonard.is a surprisingly funny, action-packed, and unique story about two unexpected friends—a white, hippie cowboy and a black, gay, Vietnamese veterinarian—who lived in East Texas in the 1980s. They often get into trouble and accidentally find themselves at the center of a crime they never intended to investigate, but the series is as dark, deep and heartfelt as it is insane, violent and often hilarious. The show takes a complex line in each of its brisk 6-episode seasons, balancing humor and heartbreak as its heroes, villains and gorgeous landscape fade from the screen. After all, he does it with aplomb. Each season is a whole story, as are the novels, which feature a wide variety of fairy tales, making it an easy and enjoyable experience. The banter in the south and the unique dynamics also helpHap and Leonardan amazingly unique gem of Peak TV.— Allison Keene

Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Guillermo del Toro

Cast: Anton Yelchin, Charlie Saxton, Jonathan Hyde, Kelsey Grammer, Ron Perlman, Amy Landecker, Steven Yeun, Clancy Brown, Mark Hamill and Anjelica Huston

Original animated seriesGuillermo del Toro «Troll Hunters » is absolutely admirable. DreamWorks Animation is set in the quiet town of Arcadia, where a boy named Jim not only stumbles upon an amulet that makes him a "Troll Hunter" but also discovers that a whole world full of trolls lives in a secret dungeon. The show combines the classic Saturday morning cartoon vibe with a serialized narrative movement of something likeBreaking bad, resulting in a series that is as delightful as it is captivating.

Legends of Tomorrow

CreatorsCast: Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, Phil Klemmer

CastCast: Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Arthur Darvill, Caity Lotz, Franz Drame, Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Nick Zano, Tala Ash

Two years ago, you couldn't convince me that one of the best TV shows would be "Legends of Tomorrow" CW, but, by God, it is. The series really came into its own in its third season (after a still-very good second season), finding a great rhythm in both the weekly adventures and major villains, including the rehab of Damian Dark after his tenure onStrelka, as well as the introduction of magical creatures, where time travel is not always a panacea. Plus, it opened the door for Konstantin!

The series focuses on a group of time-traveling rogues, mostly brought together from elsewhere in the "Arrow" verse. The first season isn't great, but it lays the groundwork for the friendship that defines the series. But if you have to skip ahead and start with Season 2 or even Season 3, I don't blame you. Another thing that has made the show so successful is its willingness to change storylines and cast. If something doesn't work or the speaker doesn't work, they give it up and try something else. In the meantime, the show is also bringing back something that really works - like Bibo, everyone's favorite fluffy blue savior.

In the third seasonLegends there were so many fantastic episodes and moments that it was fun too. Grodd vs Barack Obama! Loops of time! Pirates! Mick Rory book! Themyscira! John Noble! That's what a superhero show about a bunch of time travelers should be about: crazy fun. And yet the series has great emotional arcs that really resonate. He does everything guys.— Allison Keane

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Creator: Roberto Aguirre Sacasa

Cast: Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch, Lucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez, Jazz Sinclair, Richard Coyle and Miranda Otto

There is no trick to the treat, which is "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina", a Netflix adaptation of the comic book of the same nameRoberto Aguirre Sacasa, in whichKiernan Shipka starring the titular teenager. Updated history far from the timesSabrina the Teenage Witch, and yet it includes many of the same themes from the original Archie comics and other iterations. It's just that this time the story is wrapped up in a moody, dark, funny and stylishly atmospheric package that couldn't be the best harbinger of fall and the Halloween season.

The series begins shortly before Sabrina's sixteenth birthday, which will be celebrated not with a traditional celebration, butold Tradition: Dark baptism under a blood moon, where Sabrina will sign her soul to the Dark Lord. Except Sabrina isn't quite sure she wants this. She's only half a witch (on her father's side), and she's lived at home with witches and gone to school with mortals all her life, but this baptism - and whether or not she's ready to tie herself to the Dark Lord - is just the beginning of Sabrina's adventures. not the end, as she finds a way to honor both her mortal and supernatural heritage. It's an admiration and an obsession after all, and the scariest thing about it is how good it is.

Black Lightning

DevelopedStory by: Salim Akil

CastCast: Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Christine Adams, Marvin "Crondon" Jones III, Damon Gupton, James Remar

Just when I started to think we were at the peak of superhero fatigue,Black Lightninghit the stage and shook. The fast-paced CW series deserves praise for a number of reasons, the most obvious being that it focuses on a black family, and the second most obvious being that its protagonist is not a teenager. But the series may also be the smartest in the superhero genre; he knows what he wants to say about race and politics, but he will never preach. The first season also made a lot of smart decisions about when to introduce the powers of other characters besides Jefferson Pierce (the adorable Cress Williams) and also didn't need to send in his Big Bad by the end of the season (although he did take care of a lot of smaller villains throughout ). The story of a vigilante-turned-principal who wants to get back into the game because of the drug-related violence on his streets is inspiring and helps keepBlack lightning justified and relevant throughout its passage. This is a hero that is definitely worth rooting for.— Allison Keane

Chronicles of Shannara

Creators: Alfred Gough, Miles Millar

Cast: Austin Butler, Poppy Drayton, Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett

based ontrilogyTerry Brooks «Sword of Shannara" (which only scratches the surface of his series of mythic books),"Chronicles of Shannara" is the closest television has come to adapting a fantasy role-playing game. The series follows a half-human/half-elf, Wil Omsford, who is destined to save the Four Lands from the return of the demons exiled in the Prohibition. He travels with an elven princess, a tough rover girl, and a powerful druid, fighting sorcerers, trolls, dwarves, and more. But as Wil learns to wield the magical elven stones given to him as Shannara, the politics of the Four Lands begin to get in the way of his mission to repel the demon horde.

The series is by no means perfect, but it's fun, exciting, and has a serious commitment to world-building (the practical effects and costumes are particularly impressive). Between the first and second (final) seasons, the cast of younger characters improved slightly as the story itself matures as well. Although the series moved from MTV to Spike (later renamed Paramount Network), ruining its ratings,Shannara - an underrated and very solid fantasy series, accessible even to those who do not have 20-sided dice.— Allison Keane

Better call Saul

Creators: Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould

CastCast: Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean

Spinoff AMC'Breaking bad "goes back to finding Saul Goodman (Odenkirk) at a time when he was known as Jimmy McGill (or "Sliding Jimmy"), an aspiring courtroom salesman whose life has not yet been turned upside down by Walter White. .Despite being, as expected, comedic quirky, languid and artistically executedSaulalso turned out to be very dark, touching and dramatic thanks to Odenkirk's outstanding nuanced acting. Jimmy's complicated relationship with his brother Chuck (McKean) is emotionally charged in the first two seasons of the show, along with being thwarted by aspirations to join a real law firm. When he opens his own business (in the bathroom of a nail salon), the revolving door of crazy clients appears, but it's the selfless work that Jimmy does on behalf of the elderly contingent in the city that makes his journey meaningful and makes the stakes in the series truly dramatic.

However, Jimmy runs into walls at every turn, and his frustration with the misfires and betrayals that get in the way of his life eventually begins to add up to his transformation into the slick Saul Goodman. A show is best when it distances itself from« In everythingheavy", and although it starts slowly with curious digressions, by the end of the first season "Better call Saul" extremely gaining momentum and becoming a series that technically could even be better than "Breaking bad". Badly. Ultimately, plunging into the chaos, mirth and sadness of Jimmy's rise and fall (and ultimately resurrection as Saul) is an immersive experience.

End of the f***ing world

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Charlie Covell

Cast: Alex Lawther, Jessica Barden, Gemma Whelan, Steve Oram

Only at room level"End of the fuckingpeace" there are most teen romances surpassed by a mile. JamesAlex Lowther pretty sure he's a serial killer, and when Alyssa (Jessica Bardenin a flashy performance) shows interest in him, he thinks he's found the perfect first victim. Essentially, they both want freedom from the bonds of society and their bodies, Alyssa seeks this freedom through exploration and confrontation, while James seeks the same through the destruction and rejection of humanity. However, when they impulsively go on a road trip together, the dynamics get a little more complicated and offer amazing insights. Early on, there was concern that the show might veer too hard into cutesy, but the cast, includingSteve Oram fromBen Wheatley 'ssightseersand the letters are constantly evaded, allowing the sticky to overwhelm the inappropriate. If the series is given a second season, the creative team may be able to push the plot into a darker environment, but for now, this is a thrillingly painful, funny, and surprisingly touching show that Netflix fans should make time for.

Ann

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Moira Walley Beckett

CastCast: Amybeth McNulty, Geraldine James, R. H. Thomson, Lucas Jade Zumann, Delilah Bela

And if you forgot -Yes ! Drama can be joyful!

The second season moved away from the beloved source material somewhat, but at the same time was able to find its voice and become even better. The series also takes on contemporary relevance with the inclusion of more "awakened" storylines, but it never feels forced - all in keeping with Anne's (McNulty's) optimistic view of the world and the people in it.Annit's a joyful, funny, and ultimately delightful exploration of teenage life. And while it's set over 100 years ago, the show does an exceptional job of creating a deeply kinship mood and aesthetic that makes both the dangers and precious moments of growing up seem as raw and real as they are in real life. The new season is full of triumphant moments and joyful plots, as well as scenes of grief and adversity. It all adds up to an uplifting season that culminates with Anne Shirley-Cuthbert and everyone around her looking at the breadth of possibilities in an ever-expanding world.— Allison Keane

Very strange things

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: The Duffer Brothers

Cast: Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono & Matthew Modine

You've no doubt heard the hype, so let us tell you straight up: believe it.very strange things came almost out of nowhere as a new Netflix original series that didn't cause much buzz in pre-release. But the mystical thriller of the 80s is equally "It", «Stay with me" and"Boobies" as it mixes the creepy atmosphere of the novelStephen King with compelling characters and a strong narrative movement. The real test "Verystrange case is whether the show works without the nostalgic 80s setting, and the answer is yes. There is a government secret, spectacular effects and above all memorable characters that are a pleasure to look at as well as the creators/writers/directors.Matt Duffer andRoss Duffer create each season is like one long movie divided into chapters. Indeed, one could easily watch the entire season in one day without feeling like it's dragging on or hitting a slight "breaking point" as it's more of a TV as a novelty than a series. Which makes it a delightful drink. So keep that in mind!

CastCast: Mackenzie Davis, Gugu Mbatha-Row, Bryce Dallas Howard, Kelly Macdonald, Hayley Atwell, Domhnall Gleason, Michael Smiley, Rory Kinnear, Toby Kebbell, Daniel Kaluuya, Jessie Plemons, Rosemary DeWitt, Letitia Wright

American audiences were a bit late for the Channel 4 anthology series, but when Netflix released the first six episodes of "Black Mirror" for streaming, the internet has collectively gone mad with a bleak, unsettling lookCharlie Brooker to modern culture. "Black Mirror, which often described as modern "The Twilight Zone", tackles topics such as politics, technology, fame, and heartbreak through the lens of genre fiction, resulting in self-contained episodes that grip, horrify, harrow, and sometimes repulse (looking at you, The National Anthem).

Black Mirror is definitely one of the top Netflix shows to watch.

A touch of Kurt Vonnegut, a splash of William Gibson and yes, a hint oftwilight zoneBlack mirror.it's a beast in its own right, but like all the best science fiction, it shakes your perception and leaves you wanting more. And now, thanks to new episodes released exclusively for Netflix, "Black mirror" became even more. Have fun discussing your favorite episodes with your friends.

CastCast: Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Melissa McCarthy, Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Edward Hermann, Lisa Weil

The four-part reunion, also available on Netflix, is now the perfect time to catch up on fast-talking, pop-culture-filled comfort TV.Amy Sherman-PalladinoGilmore girlsIt's about three generations of brilliant women: Emily's grandmother, a wealthy socialite, her rebellious daughter Lorelai, and Lorelai's dutiful daughter Rory, who navigates the series as she figures out her place between her mother's and grandmother's worlds. The series' dialogue moves at a frantic pace, contrasting with the sleepy town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, which serves as a cozy backdrop for the series. While the novels dominate most of the storylines, the series meanwhile introduces a host of unforgettable characters as it explores the importance of family, friends, and honest relationships. With showrunner Palladino leaving in its final season, the series has become a major sticking point, but the full series is still worth watching. The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Ryan Murphy

Cast: Sarah Paulson, Cuba Gooding Jr., Sterling K. Brown, Bruce Greenwood, Kenn Choi, Nathan Lane, David Schwimmer, Courtney B. Vance and John Travolta

Few could have predicted not only how serious the case would be"People vs. O. Simpson: American Crime Story"but also how truly great the series is. First issue of a new anthology series from the creatorAmerican Horror Story andGlee Ryan MurphyOJ presents a unique look at this significant moment in history, revealing new truths not only about the case, but also about its environment. How issues of sexism, racism and class played a major role in the exodus and how little-known facts changed the course of history forever. The show is very well staged, especiallySarah Paulson the role of Marcia Clarke,Sterling K. Brown.as Christopher Darden andCourtney B. Vance the role of Johnny Cochran. Trust me, this is not the show you think it is, and as a 10-episode story, this is one of the best things to have aired on TV in the last decade.

Flash

Authors: Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Geoff Johns

CastCast: Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Rick Cosnett, Carlos Valdez, Tom Kavanagh, Jesse L. Martin

Unless you're ready for some completely insane, real comic book fever aboutFlash, then the CW superhero show might not be for you. But those willing to work with the full embrace of its comic origins, including time travel, alternate universes and Gorilla Grodd, will be rewarded.Flash deals with many dark and complex topics, and yet more often than not it feels like an easy and fun game to play in the chaotic world of Central City. It follows the story of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) as he comes to terms with his newfound super-speed and his city's need to fend off a host of super-powered villains. But he still has time for dates and unrequited love, as well as some time with Team Arrow (both shows are run by the same creative team).

Flash there's an instantly engaging cast, an endless supply of great hooks, and plenty of long arcs that help solidify Villain of the Week plots. It's fully accessible to non-comic book readers (or those who aren't fans of the superhero genre), but also contains plenty of insider links to please comic book fans. Crown

CreatedStory by: Peter Morgan

CastCast: Claire Foy, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, John Lithgow

Most Expensive Netflix SeriesCrown" dedicated to the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II of England. The series is beautifully shot in sumptuous yet balanced tones, as young Elizabeth (Claire Foy), recently married to Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (Matt Smith, playing against the font), first lives as a privileged princess before she has to move into that position. . Queens. From there, her grandmother warns, there will be two Elizabeths at war with each other: one is a young woman with her own hopes and dreams, and the other is a royal whose life will be full of duty and sacrifice. "But the crown must always win."

Foy is exceptional again, as always (we last saw her as Anne Boleyn inwolf hall, unlike the monarch she plays in"Crown" ). Her huge blue eyes and placid, doll-like features can easily go from questioning innocence to stern acceptance of duty in the blink of an eye, and she infuses the story of Queen Elizabeth with a startling warmth and humanity (something that can be forgotten when it comes to those who have been monarchs for more than half a century). The superb cast extends to every role, from Smith as the handsome but irreverent Philip to the uptight and measured King George VI Jared Harris. Perhaps most inspiring is John Lithgow as the aged Winston Churchill, whose story is drawing to a close as Elizabeth begins her ascent.

"Crown" is a captivating and easily gripping portrait of a young monarch in a fairly modern era that features one writer (creator Peter Morgan) to give it narrative continuity. The story, which provides insight into many familiar faces associated with the government of the time, glides through history and crosses the globe, but is most effective when it explores the nuances of Elizabeth's life and the lives of those around her who must make a lifestyle change. they respect her (from wife, sister and daughter to the monarch, to whom they must always obey). The trappings of power, such as they are, are shown here as claustrophobic and tiring, even though the luxurious lifestyle it offers is also seductive. And that's why, as soon as you enter the royal worldThe Crownyou won't want to leave. Always wins.— Allison KeanewatchCrown here

Jessica Jones

Created Story by: Melissa Rosenberg

CastCast: Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Rachael Taylor, David Tennant, Eka Darvill, Carrie-Anne Moss and Wil Travale

It is now perfectly clear thatJessica Jones - one of the best things to come out of a Marvel adaptation to date, beating established leaders like the Netflix seriesDaredevil, the first and third films aboutiron man and noisy, cheerfulAnt-Man Peyton Reed. Unlike their counterparts,Jessica Jones there is a solid thematic survival framework that keeps every exchange in the narrative, whether verbal or physical, teeming with insight and sly charm. Not only the titled hardened superheroine (fantasticKrysten Ritter ) suffers from survival, but alsoMike Colterthe equally indestructible Luke Cage, who earns a day's wage as a bar owner, and Rachel Taylor's Trish Walker, Jessica's best friend and famous radio personality. Their interactions are startlingly, subtly expressive in the way they evoke their barely healed pain and their collective desire to move on, but the show becomes all the more riveting in the final phase when their great enemy, Kilgrave, is revealed to have played superbly self-absorbed.David Tennant, also a kind of survivor. It gives the series a final push of empathy that no one else expected, adds a whole new dimension to what could have been simple and enjoyable entertainment likeAge of Ultron orThe Winter Soldier.. The grand triumph of the show is to see the roots and erratic gusts of pain that both exemplify and transcend the old adage of hurting people.

Luke Cage

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Cheo Hodari Cocker

CastCast: Mike Colter, Frankie Faison, Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick

Several months pass afterJessica JonesLuke Cage considers his title character (Coulter) to be transferring himself to Harlem from Hell's Kitchen, and tries to keep a low profile. He barely makes ends meet sweeping his hair at the local barbershop (owned by Faison's Pops) and washing dishes at a nightclub owned by crime boss Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes (Ali). But the stories quickly connect as young barbershop regulars see an opportunity to make quick cash that will soon turn into blood. The fallout from this is what drives Cage to finally move forward in his life and use his strengths to protect those in need.

Luke Cage is a story about more than being a vigilante, as the series addresses complex real-world issues that go beyond metahumans and cartoon villains. Race also mattersLuke Cage, but especially in the sense that the series fully captures its Harlem location with style and substance. There is an intimacy of place here, and it extends to every corner of the series in cultural specificity and detail. What matters here is the idea of Luke Cage not just as a hero, but as a black superhero.

Colter gives Cage a sense of restraint mixed with a righteous defiance that hits all the right notes for the stubborn hero, and does it quietly and with casual confidence. While it may be difficult for him to define his heroism and what it means to himself and Harlem, there is no difficulty for viewers. He is the hero we have been waiting for.— Allison Keane

Star Trek: Deep Space 9

The series is out and available on Netflix | Creator: Rick Berman, Michael Piller

Cast: Avery Brooks, René Aberjonois, Terry Farrell, Sirroch Lofton, Colm Meaney, Armin Shimerman, Alexander Siddig, Nana Visitor, Michael Dorn, Nicole de Boer

Fair warning: you'll have to live through two seasons of this show as the show struggled to find its own identity. Although it already stands apart from other series "Star Trek because it's based on a space station rather than space exploration, many episodes from the first two seasons feel like holdovers from scenarios from "Star Trek" and "Star Trek: The Next Generation". It wasn't until the show started interacting with the Dominion and moving towards war thatDeep Space Nine created an absolutely breathtaking personality. Seasons 3-5 are greatstar trek, and the last two seasons have been great TV, period. The show gets surprisingly dark, but he has always been mature in his approach to war and the sacrifices that must be made in a war.

Pedigree

The series is out and available on Netflix | Creator: Glenn Kessler, Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman

Cast: Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, Norbert Leo Butz, Jacinda Barrett, Jamie McShane, Enrique Murciano, Sissy Spacek

As for crime dramas, bloodlines competes withRectify for the most compelling mystery and fascinating exploration of family relationships on TV—at least in its first season. The essence of "Pedigree» focused on Danny RayburnBen Mendelsohn, the eldest son and "Black Sheep" of the prestigious Florida Keys family. Danny brings with him a black cloud and plenty of intrigue, and Mendelssohn's layered acting is as good as any you're likely to encounter. At the same time, the supporting actors are just as talented in bringing their two-faced and dynamic characters to life. Everyone has a secretbloodlines, but only a few are willing to kill to keep it that way.

I'm a zombie

The series is out and available on Netflix | Creator: Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero

CastCast: Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley, David Anders

Based on a comicChris Roberson andMichael AllrediZombie playsRose McIver as Liz, a resident with the perfect job, the perfect fiancee, and the perfect life, who loses it all one night when she turns into a zombie. But it is notthe walking Deadsituation. Her hair may be white and her heart beat twice a minute, but she can still walk, talk, act, think, and feel like a human—as long as she regularly feeds on human brains. The good news is that Liz is using her medical background to get a job at the local mortuary, where she has regular supplies. The bad news is that she temporarily inherits the memories, personality, and skills of everyone she eats, which puts her on the trail of a series of murders committed by some less morally sound zombies. Working under the guise of a psychic, she uses her visions to work with a local detective (Malcolm Goodwin ) to solve the murders and give meaning to his new life.

FromRob Thomas andDiane Ruggiero, minds thatgave USVeronica MarsiZombie often simplified as "Veronica Mars with zombies", but this description does a disservice to the originality of both series. To be clear, there is one and only oneVeronica Marsand while there are similarities, Liz is another witty blonde sleuth, for example, they are pretty much different shows. Despite the death, the first seasoniZombiemostly lighter food that relies on a procedural element. Luckily, the cases of the week are endlessly captivating thanks to McIver's consistently likable yet surprisingly fluid work as she takes on the individual traits of the victims.

Retarded development

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Mitch Hurwitz

Cast: Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat, Tony Hale, David Cross, Jeffrey Tambor and Jessica Walter

Definitely one of the best sitcoms ever made, "Arrested Development" way ahead of its time when it debuted in 2003. His wit and ridiculous sense of humor are now in line with the current state of the genre, but at the time it wasincredible different, which led to early cancellation. But Netflix revived the series in 2013 with mixed results, with Hurwitz taking the credit for at least trying something different than before. No matter how you feel about the latest seasons of Netflix, the series' previous episodes are undoubtedly some of the silliest, smartest, and funniest TV comedies ever made.

Stop and burn

Creators: Christopher Cantwell, Christopher S. Rogers

Cast: Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Mackenzie Davis, Kerry Bishé, Toby Huss

What a pity that more people did not watch "Stop and caught firethe fire". The film premiered on AMC in the summer of 2014 and ran for four seasons. Even though critical praise was very high - especially in the second, third and fourth seasons - the ratings weren't, so I have to urge you to go to Netflix to watch this underrated gem. The show begins in Dallas in 1983 and covers the birth of the personal computer. If you're at all intrigued by technology and how the machines we're so attached to came to be, one premise should be enough, but then Cantwell and Rogers also populate the world with five extremely energetic and destructive protagonists. which are absolutely fascinating to track.— Perry Nemiroff

Star Trek: The Next Generation

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Gene Roddenberry

Cast: Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Denise Crosby, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, Brent Spiner, Wil Wheaton and Whoopi Goldberg

You can't argue against this show. One of the most iconic shows in television history, this longtime award winner received the award decades after the original series he directedWilliam Shatner. Well Jean-Luc PicardPatrick Stewart ) proves conclusively that he is the best Enterprise captain in the franchise by playing "Star Trek: The Next Generation". One of the few shows in history that runs that long and never jumps the shark. The Next Generation followed the crew of USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D as they explored strange new worlds, searched for new life and civilizations, and boldly went where no space crew had gone before.

For fans of intellectual, philosophical and entertainment showsTNG is the gold standard. Lots of action can be found, but launching photon torpedoes as soon as the Enterprise hits an obstacle isn't the first thing to do. In fact, there are many instances where a Galaxy-class starship is superior in armament and protection, so the skill of the crew and the ability to cooperate can help them survive and perhaps earn a new ally along the way. Modern television has yet to see its equal, so it's good that all 178 episodes are available to assimilate online.

Daredevil

The series is out and available on Netflix | Creator: Drew Goddard

After conquering the world of superhero cinema, Marvel Studios moved to serialized storytelling (more serialized, anyway) with their first collaboration with Netflix.Daredevil, created with love by a mega-fanDrew Goddard (before he left to guide the slainSinister six) and moved to Created by showrunnerStephen S. DeKnight in its first season, the series satisfies comic book fans and casual viewers alike."Daredevil" can boast one of the most outstanding fight choreographies ever seen on TV and a fantastic performance by the lead actorCharlie Cox, in which the dual roles of Matt Murdock and his heroic hero.Vincent D'Onofrioalso plays the role of the villain Wilson Fisk and is a great payback monologue. The show loses a bit of momentum towards the middle of the first season, but when it's good, it's great.SeeDaredevil here

House of cards

The series is available on Netflix | Creator: Beau Willimon

Cast: Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Kate Mara, Corey Stoll, Michael Kelly, Sakin Jeffery, Constance Zimmer, Rachel Brosnahan and Mahershala Ali

As the show that first put Netflix on the map as a game changer in the original series of the department,House of cards is a viciously dark, poignant political thriller/satire with a sparing style. It's hard to beat the show's impressive first season, whichDavid Fincher started off amazingly by declaring the series to be a director-driven rather than necessarily a screenwriter. But there's a lot of nasty stuff about later seasons, especially about the show's secret weapon:Robin Wright. The actress really shines as "Lady Macbeth" and turns into some of the best performances of her career over the course of the series.

Bojack horse

The series is out and available on Netflix | Creator: Rafael Bob-Waksberg

Cast: Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Paul F. Tompkins, Aaron Paul

The famous celebrity character has never felt so empathetic as in the animated character BoJack Horseman, a former 1980s sitcom star.Horsin' Around, voiced by Will Arnett with biting desperation and cynicism. The rider's attempt to return -main topic first two seasons of one of Netflix's most ambitious series, and its creatorRafael Bob Waksberg.turns the rider's quite literal addiction to fame, attention and narcissism into a melancholy vision of an exhausted life. The series is also a scathing indictment of Hollywood and its superficial shenanigans, but Bob-Waksberg, along with his writers and animators, balances those blue morbid thematic issues with a flamboyant animation style and varied sense of character design, not to mention a bounty of dry one-liners. Visually and tonallyBojack horse sticks strange line, but even his strangest moments and creations hidefascinating background of internal feelings, evoking a landscape of hurt egos, hardened obsessions, and a few artists desperately trying to make something damn worthwhile.

Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp

Creators: David Wayne and Michael Showalter

Cast: Paul Rudd, Michael Showalter, Marguerite Moreau, Lake Bell, Christopher Meloni, Jon Hamm, Elizabeth Banks, John Slattery, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Ken Marino

In the spirit of silly summer comediesWet Hot American Summer" became one of the greatest silly comedies of all time. Back in 2001, the cast was already too old to play school counselors, and in this series (filmed 14 years later), they hilariously play even younger versions of themselves. It's a boombox explosion—sometimes hilarious, sometimes cringe-inducing—and the new series is a light drink, mostly due to the heavy nuttinessChristopher Meloni, a camp cook who fought in Vietnam is about to get married and briefly married. a functional sexual relationship before becoming the refrigerator we now know and love. These are origin stories you didn't even know existed.

How to Get Away with Murder

The series is out and available on Netflix | Creator: Peter Nowalk

Cast: Viola Davis, Billy Brown, Alfred Enoch, Jack Falahee, Cathy Findlay, Aja Naomi King, Matt McGorry, Carla Souza, Charlie Weber and Lisa Weil.

Shonda Rhimes I've gotten pretty into network TV over the past decade, and now I've switched to Netflix. Whether you're a fan of her show or not, her ability to weave a popular yarn and last for years is undeniable. Although Rhimes is only the executive producer of the film,How escape punishment formurder" (Peter Nowalk - showrunner) It has a lot of Rhimes-esque coloring that makes it an absolutely delightful TV series.Viola Davis excellent as a morally ambiguous law professor entangled in a highly convoluted murder mystery that extends to some of her most valuable students. There are enough twists and turns in this first season of the last whole series, and theySolotfun. Seriously, put aside your complacency and dive into this wonderfully ridiculous drama; you won't regret it.

Creation of a killer

The series is out and available on Netflix | Creator: Laura Riccardi and Moira Demos

Cast: Stephen Avery

Featuring true crime documentaries like the podcastSerial and HBO miniseriesThe Jinx, capturing the public's attention in new and innovative ways that go beyond tabloids at the box office, Netflix has joined this exploration of the various Steven Avery cases. Guilty or not, the legally beleaguered Wisconsin man quickly became a household name, as couch couch couch potatoes dominated every aspect of his life.

Being able to easily watch the entire documentary has led to some interesting results, namely focused rage spread on social media and through various petitions. Unlike "Series" and"Jinx", which were released sporadically in a more traditional format that allows you to measure frustration over time, "The Creation of a Killer" exacerbated the feeling of rage by the hour. While the Avery case is far from open and closed, just like this documentary is anything but objective, it is well worth watching, if only to stay up to date and be aware of the current public conscience.

Supernatural

The series is out and available on Netflix | Creator: Eric Cripe

Cast: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard

supernatural is a mainstay of The CW programming, debuting in 2005 and ending with its 15th season in 2020. The fandom surrounding Sam and Dean Winchesters' battles with otherworldly enemies is strong, but rarely reaches out to a wide audience unless they come through a convention show, the occasional news item, or a Netflix offer. I managed to get into it all with an incredible combination of all three.

"Supernatural ” maintained a roughly procedural format for 11 seasons, but each season always had an overlay story arc. Terrifying creatures, demons, and ghosts abound, and each episode contains more lore, mysticism, and mythology than you can remember from all the Sunday School lessons. Characters - main and secondary - range from angels and gods to witches and demons. (It doesn't hurt that the cast is also very attractive.) Twilight Zone

Created: Rod Serling

Cast: Rod Serling

Almost hard to imagine"The Twilight Zone" like a TV show, and not just because it spawned a (pretty great) anthology movie that had plenty of room for people likeJohn LandisJoe Dante andSteven Spielberg, to allow himself to offend them. darker impulses. That's because each episode seemed to unravel like some great genre short, a showcase of great talent capable of handling tales of monstrous creatures, global catastrophes, social horror, and the unwavering tyranny of time. In one episode, Burgess Meredith famously plays an intellectual whose physical handicaps end up lavishing his humble desires, whileDennis Hopper played the role of leader of the New Reich in another."Twilight Zone" remains the most authentic recreation of pulp novel thrills ever made on television, letting Rod Serling's wild talent for imagination and ingenuity rule it all. Some of the great pleasures of the 1990s, likeX files andTales from the Crypt, have their roots inThe Twilight Zone, as well as the best of modern genre cinema, fromBlock attacks Tolet me in ToHost. Decades after the series ended, each episode still has an intellectual charm and creative sense of playfulness that surpasses nearly every other procedural or anthology series currently in production.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Creators: Tina Fey and Robert Carlock

Cast: Ellie Kemper, Jane Krakowski, Tituss Burgess, Lauren Adams, Sarah Chase

Look, we all miss30 Rock. That superbly offbeat tone and flawless cast made it one of the greatest TV sitcoms of all time, and it will never be replaced. However, the Netflix original series "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" is the next best thing.30 rock showrunnersTina Fey andRobert Carlock turn their attention to the story of the "fish out of water" whenKimmy Schmidt follows protagonist Ellie Kemper, a woman who was held captive in an underground bunker for years and is now trying to start her life over again. in New York City. Not only is the show genuinely hilarious, it carries the same cheeky silliness as30 rock.so much fun, but the show also works great as a genderless assault survivor story, making it all the more daring and impactful. But above all, it's incredibly funny whenTitus Burgess revealed a real breakthrough performance. And the theme songforever stay in your head.

Arrow

Creators: Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg

Cast: Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Colton Haynes, Emily Bette Rickards, Caity Lotz, Paul Blackthorn, John Barrowman

Harbinger of a new generation of superhero TV, The CW'sArrow brought one of DC Comics' most obscure heroes to life with a very capableStephen Amell. The show was built around Amell's character, Oliver Queen, a spoiled billionaire playboy boy whose evil deeds were tamed when a brutal shipwreck took his father's life and left him on a primitive island. Back in Starling City, the Queen took a vigilante approach to cleaning up her hometown, a tactic that put him at odds with law enforcement, the city's underworld, and his unsuspecting friends and family.

Arrow has seen its ups and downs over the years and even its seasons, but it's a solid action movie full of fun stunts, characters you'll fall in love with, and just enough easter eggs to satisfy comic book fans. It's the darker side of the CW DC television series, and it even acts as a worthy replacement for those of you looking for a live-action series aboutbatman, who is disappointedGotham fox.

The walking Dead

Creator: Frank Darabont

CastCast: Andrew Lincoln, John Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Melissa McBride, Scott Wilson, Michael Cudlitz, Chad L. Coleman, Lennie James, Sonequa Martin Green

The strangest thing about"The Walking Dead" not so much that it survived that long with such a repetitive narrative, but that the show gradually improved with each season for the first five or six years. The show's central tenet is faith and how much you can have in a post-apocalyptic world where those you love can be, and likely will be, rotting zombies' noontime activities. And, of course, walkers and biters are not as dangerous as human survivors, those who no longer have a society to curb their violent behavior and darker impulses. At the center of it all is Rick GrimesAndrew Lincoln) becomes a symbol of this corrosive faith in others and in society, facing unspeakable horror and loss from Herschel's home to prison until his confrontation with the governor in the so-called Alexandria Safe Zone. Thus, Rick becomes an increasingly violent person, and the emotional toll that falls on him and on the few people he still trusts does not escape the writers and creators of the show."The walking Dead" is equal parts brilliant horror film, family melodrama and western, replacing bandits, outlaws and, well, Native Americans with hungry undead and humans who let survival instincts fold into creepy solace before being tortured and killed. others.

Hundred - 100

authorStory by: Jason Rothenberg, based on the novel by Cass Morgan).

CastCast: Eliza Taylor, Paige Turco, Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropoulos

The post-apocalyptic CW sci-fi series takes a few episodes to find its footing, but once it does,The 100 increases the stakes and tension to the maximum and never backs down again. The series allegedly follows a group of 100 juvenile delinquents sent from a dying spaceship to the surface of a post-nuclear earth to determine if the earth has become habitable again. But the name of the show quickly becomes a misnomer when most of the kids are quickly dispatched and the scale of the series expands breathlessly, introducing many new settings and characters, each bringing their own microcosmic world and culture with them. Indeed, what does100One of the best genre series on TV is how it permeates sci-fi sub-genres, merging them into one storytelling that has endless space to develop and explore.

The series is also notable for never giving its characters an easy path. As the stakes continue to rise, young survivors are immersed in politics and warfare far beyond their knowledge and experience. They are constantly presented with a terrifying choice: life or death, and are forced to suffer the consequences of their actions. At the center of it all is Clark, the show's supposed hero, who is one of the most ruthless, strategic characters on TV, able to handle morally grim survival scenarios with a confidence that puts Jack Bauer to shame. There is no other character quite like Clarke on television—a pragmatic, tenacious, bisexual warrior woman who unapologetically uses her power without becoming an insensitive "cool chick."

Geeks

The series is out and available on Netflix | Creator: Graham Linehan

CastCast: Chris O'Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson, Matt Berry, Christopher Norris, Noel Fielding

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Workplace comedy is nothing new, and in many waysTheIT Crowd is standard workplace comedy, representing the banality of day-to-day corporate culture and the absurdity of internal politics, but the show sets itself up. except that you're willing to get really weird with it.IT Crowd focused on your "standard nerds"; tech support duo from the basement and home, socially awkward, consisting of Moss (Richard Ayoade ) and Roy (Chris O'Dowd ) and their illiterate boss Jen (Katherine Parkinson).). The result is a truly eccentric trio who play each other like gangsters. The series relies heavily on its small central cast, but they're insanely talented comedians and they carry the show with ease, each with a killer sense of timing and a willingness to be fearlessly funny. A lot of shows can make me cry terribly, but thanks to Graham Linenan's idiosyncratic sense of humor and skillful delivery of the actors "IT Crowd» one of the few that makes me laugh terribly.

Dragons

Creators: Chris Sanders, Dean DeBlois

Cast: Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, David Tennant, Julie Marcus, Andre Vermeulen, Zach Perlman, Chris Edgerley and Nolan North

If you are a fan of the two films "How to Train Your Dragon », then a fantasy series inspired by feature films should definitely be on your watch list. The third and most recent installment in the seriesDragons: Race to the Edge now available on Netflix along with the first two parts; they talk about Burke's Dragon Riders and their quest to stop the Dragon Hunters from harming innocent dragons and humans.

Usually when a movie inspires a series, the cast is completely replaced and the quality drops. This does not apply toDragons", which boast much of the original cast, includingJay BaruchelAmerica FerrerChristopher Mintz-Plasse andT.J. Miller. This goes a long way in maintaining a close bond between fans and characters, especially since the heart and humor in the episodic tales is just as strong as in the big screen versions. It's also a family series that everyone can enjoy, just make sure you watchdragons, before checking, how to tame a dragon.continuation of the film, as they appear in that narrative order.— Dave Trumbore

Beach Murder

The series is out and available on Netflix | Creator: Chris Chibnall

Cast: David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Andrew Buchan and Jodie Whittaker

Okay, the American remake was weird and unnecessary, but if you haven't seen the British originalBroadchurchtry. CreatorChris Chibnall weaves a hugely emotional detective story over the course of the show's first season, resulting in the pilot being one of the quickest "tear flow" moments in recent memory. When a boy is found dead under the rocks in this sleepy British town, a detective with a shady past (played byDavid Tennant ) to take the lead.

Performances - especiallyOlivia Colmanare grandiose, and the mystery and the emotional impact of the boy's death are equally important in the story. While the first season is hard to beat (it works great as a miniseries since it wraps things up by the end of the season), the second season is compelling for entirely different reasons. Worth a look if you're in the mood for solving a mystery and have a lot of mind and heart.
