Tags: clothing

Choosing the color of stockings or pantyhose is not always easy because there are many options. Knowing what suits your skin tone or your outfit can help guide your color choices. However, there are neutral colors such as tinted and black. there are also "fun" colors, and they have their own special "rules".

There are 3 ways:

  1. Choosing and wearing neutral colors.
  2. Choosing and wearing "fun" colors.
  3. Following the General Fashion Advice.

Choosing and wearing neutral colors

Choose leather tights and stockings with care. A bare leg is a great option, but you should also pay attention to your personal skin tone. Just because it says "skin tone" or "natural" on the package doesn't necessarily mean it will match.your skin tone. For example, if you have very pale skin, you don't need a tan or dark shade; it will look fake, your face will give you away. Instead, you can try ivory or something like "natural"

Match your tights or stockings to the hem of your skirt or dress. For example, if you have a black dress, then choose a pair of black tights or stockings. However, there is an exception to this rule: if your dressdarker than the shoes you are wearing, choose skin-colored tights or stockings.

  • The skin color should match the color of your feet, be it fair, neutral, etc.

Instead, try matching your tights or stockings. For example, you are wearing black shoes, then you can wear black tights or stockings. You can also wear tights or stockings that are slightly lighter than your boots, but within reason. You shouldn't wear white opaque tights with black shoes.

  • If your shoesdarker skirts or dresses that you wear then put on stockings that match your skin color.
  • If you're wearing open-toed shoes, go for transparent and nude ones. It's much better than not wearing pantyhose at all.
  • Avoid black tights with brightly colored boots. The contrast is quite stark and often cartoonish. It will also make your legs appear shorter and sharper than they really are.

Choose something sheer to match your skin tone if your boots and skirt/dress are bright. Remember that not everything that is called "natural" or "skin tone" will match your feet. Some of them may be too dark for you, while others may be too light. If you have very light (pale) skin, you may need to go with "off-white" or "ivory". If you have very dark skin, you may have to stick with "brown", "espresso" - pure black might be too dark for you.

The material should match your skin tone. If you wear too dark, then the color will look fake and not like "light tan" or "coffee".

Avoid white tights with black shoes. White, especially opaque white, is often associated with children, Victorian and colonial times. If this is not the period you are going to, it is better not to wear white opaque tights and black shoes.

  • This style is suitable for small children.
  • If you havevery fair skin, most flesh-colored tights and stockings may be too dark for you. In this case, ivory or pure white may be too light for you.

Choosing and wearing fun colors

Choose darker, more saturated colors if you want your legs to appear longer and leaner. These include colors such as eggplant, burgundy, navy blue and green. Avoid bright colors like purple, red, bright blue and acid green.

Choose bright colorsif you want to make a statement, but think about what shoes you're wearing. Bright colors don't have to be pink and neon. They can be red, blue and green.

  • To do this, pay attention to opaque tights and stockings; they will go better with dark shoes. This will help connect your legs to your boots and make them look longer.

Try pairing warm colors or cool colors together. For example, if you have a blue dress, you can wear it with woodland green tights or plum colored tights.

Combine monotonous tights with patterns on your clothes. If your outfit has a colorful pattern, you can choose a pair of tights to match that color. For example, if you're wearing an ivory skirt with purple, green, and brown patterns on it, you can wear plum stockings, dark green, or brown tights. The colors will match your outfit and blend harmoniously, but they should be dark enough so that they don't draw your attention to themselves (because the dress is more important than tights).

Combine your colored tights with your hemline carefully. You want your tights to match the hem of your skirt or dress, but you don't want them to be the same and blend together. For example, if you wear a navy blue dress with blue tights, your entire costume will be too mixed up and lose all of its uniqueness. Instead, you can try a blue dress and gray or brown tights.

Avoid stockings that are exactly the same color as your boots. When it comes to neutral colors, you want to try wearing your tights and stockings with your shoes (but that's not the case when it comes to fun colors like plum, blue, green and burgundy). Matching your tights with your boots will end up with too much of one color and make your look less unique. Instead, you can try lighter green tights and darker green boots.

  • On the other hand, you'll want to avoid too much contrast between tights and boots. But be aware that: Light blue tights and black boots will make your legs look short. Dark blue tights and black boots will make your legs look longer.

Following general fashion trends

Choose colors based on the dominant colors in your wardrobe. Take a look at your closet and see what is the dominant color among your skirts and dresses. Then buy tights or stockings that match those colors. This will make it easier to create outfits in the future. For example, if your skirts and dresses are mostly gray or brown, choose tights or stockings in those colors.

Match the right colors on the right occasions. Some colors are better for certain occasions and places than others. For example, bright red tights may not look very professional in an office-type setting, but they are great for a party or concert. On the other hand, the black might be too harsh for a casual picnic in the park, but they would be appropriate for a great evening at the opera.

  • Dressy tights and stockings are suitable for all occasions. Be sure to choose a color that matches your skin tone.

Wear colors appropriate for the season. There are no rules about what you should and shouldn't wear, but dark colors tend to look better when it's cold and light colors tend to look better when warm. It is likely that you will want to wear dark colors during the hot summer month; they are too warm and absorb too much sunlight. In fact, you can forget about socks and tights during the warmer months!

  • If you choose or have to wear pantyhose or stockings during the warmer months, choose something that is lighter in color, or one that is close to your skin tone.

Be careful with patterns. Many funny tights contain drawings. This is a great way to add freshness to your look and make it more vibrant. However, you must be careful; too many patterns can make you look cluttered and ridiculous. Stay safe and choose a pattern that matches your outfit. For example, a pair of black lace tights would look cute with ivory, fitted and flare clothing, and a thin black belt.
