25 most innocent and naive anime characters

I have to admit that I tend to watch and talk about Edgelords more than any other type of character.

However, even ninja lightning dragons will get bored one day.

So for this list, we're changing our tune.

That's right, today we're going to take a look at the polar opposite of edgelords and count up some of the most down-to-earth anime characters our inner child might just love.

So here are some of the most innocent anime characters that my heart couldn't live without.

25. Nezuko Kamado

Anime: Demon Slayer

I'm going to start this list with a few characters that have both virtue and badass in them.

And here we have Nezuko, the little demon sister we all wish we had.

Nezuko basically has two modes:

Her battle mode, when she looks a bit older, has a more serious expression and has the ability to blast her enemies.

And her innocence when she's the most adorable chibi character you've ever seen.

The clip of her running around while the other characters try to catch her has been my antidepressant for a whole year, so it makes sense to include her on this list.

24. Charmy Pappitson

Anime: black clover

Charmy is exactly the same as Nezuko in that she has two different forms. However, she has a lot more screen time and her innocent modemuch more extreme.

She literally looks like a plush doll, and her mind is filled with one simple goal: get food.

A real war might be raging outside, and Charmy will still find a way to just hide in the corner and eat sweets, completely satisfied with life.

Her cool mode really pops up here and there. But it's her healthy lifestyle that pervades her character throughout the series.

23. Izuku Midoriya

Anime: My Hero Academy

It sounds very counterproductive, but My Hero Academia makes it work.

On the battlefield, Izuku tries his best to be the perfect hero. Strong, calm, helpful and smiling.

But his true innocence can be seen outside of combat.

He is as romantic as they are and can burst a blood vessel after being touched on the elbow by the opposite sex, giving him that shyness that is so present in the anime.

I would say that he is also quite naive as he has not yet realized how cruel and unfair the world can be.

However, the same cannot be said for the manga.

22. Shichika Yasuri

Anime: katanagatari

Shichika just doesn't understand anything.

He spent his entire life on the island with his sister and father. So his naivety is more than justified.

I'm not sure if I'll mark him as innocent given what happened to his father... but his massive knowledge gaps make him more than viable for this list.

He also has a rather rare personality when it comes to his relationships with women.

Instead of the usual blushing and clumsy dandere, Shichika just doesn't seem to understand what they're talking about.

He can be naked next to a woman and be perplexed that they are uncomfortable. Truly a breath of fresh air in this regard.

21. Fushi

Anime: Into your eternity

The only way to be less experienced than someone who has lived on the island all their lives is to be a full-fledged alien.

Fushi came into this world knowing nothing and had to slowly piece together what life is from those around him.

Let's just say it's a long and complicated process.

Initially, he did not even understand death, and more complex feelings, such as romance, go far beyond him.

So whenever he takes a small step and becomes mature, it's like the most rewarding experience.

Especially for Gugu.

The two were too tragically useful together.

20.Wiz

Anime: KonoSuba

Wiz goes against every stereotype you might have about lich characters.

She is too kind, constantly trying to help people and apologizing for things she didn't even do.

She has her own store and let's just say her naivety is fully reflected in her bank accounts.

Half of the items she sells can just kill you, and the other half are so high level that it makes absolutely no sense to have them in a newbie town.

She failed to make a profit even once on the show. But her childish stubbornness does not allow her to pack up and leave.

19. Maria Takayama

Anime: Haganai: I don't have many friends.

Maria is strange, so innocent and naive, but at the same time strangely aggressive and aggressive.

In addition, she is a ten-year-old nun and the leader of the school club.

Anime really knows how to push the boundaries of logic.

While she quickly gets angry and calls you a rotten tangerine (which sounds really weird), Maria is also incredibly naive and easy to manipulate.

Yozora basically dances like a puppet and it is Kodaka who constantly steps in and checks that Maria is okay.

18. Hinata Hyuga

Anime: naruto

Hinata is one of the most odious characters anime has ever seen.

It literally takes hundreds of episodes just to walk up and talk to Naruto, and a couple hundred more to get V.

And that's because Hinata is the most innocent ninja that has ever been in the leaf village.

She does not want to fight, even if she is from a powerful clan. And her confidence can be shaken by a little smart parrot.

However, when the chips run out, she is ready to put everything at stake and protect those she loves. So we can't be mad at her.

17. Ayumi Otosaka

Anime: Charlotte

Ayumi is just a little angel who never deserved to be in such a bloody show.

I mean, just look at that face! She is just a kind little girl who wants to take care of her older brother and make friends at school.

She also has the most smug little troll face ever.

Spoiler alerts here:

I think even her strength speaks volumes about what she's like. When in danger, she does not know what to do and how to act, but rather remains frozen and simply tries to drive the enemy away.

God, she's too clean.

16. Nia

Anime: Gurren Lagann

Princess characters are always either arrogant or damn healthy.

Nia is definitely second, as even her introduction demonstrates her far from perfect upbringing.

She was banished by her father without learning any life lessons that could prepare her for life in the real world.

Luckily, she did indeed have a heart of gold and everyone on board fell in love with her within minutes of her arrival.

She was like a moral boost to the entire cast, although it took her quite a while to really understand the gravity of the situation.

15 Rundellhous Kode

Anime: Log Horizon

This dude just makes me happy when he appears on the screen.

The show even has a gag in which all the characters see Rundellhouse as a golden retriever.

And I feel that my business is only on this.

What could be more innocent, sincere, kinder and sweeter than a puppy?

And he, in my opinion, fits this description very well, always uplifting and smoothing out tense situations with his infectious charm.

Although he is very naive. Half the time I'm convinced he doesn't even know what an insult is, and the other half I'm just thinking about how innocently stupid his original plan was.

God bless deus ex machina.

14. Michiru Inukai

Anime: Untalented Nana

Michiru is so kind and warm that she managed to soften the mass murderer.

The main character, Nana, spends the entire show killing her classmates. But she couldn't bring herself to kill her most obvious target, Michiru.

And that's because Michiru is an angel.

A very innocent, optimistic angel.

No matter how much evidence was presented to her, she never suspected Nana of the murder, choosing to simply believe in the power of friendship or something like that.

13. Nana Komatsu

Anime: Nana

Since we are already on the Nana train, we can talk about the original as well.

Nana as a show is very down to earth and very serious, so Nana Komatsu does show some of the flaws in her innocence and naivety.

At first, everything is fine and fashionable, as even the coldest characters soon come to love Nana and her simple, loving acts.

However, there is a spoiler here: it will soon return to haunt her as a certain long-haired devil begins to play with her heart. Nana just takes it all in, leaving little room for doubt and breaking all of our hearts in the process.

She is also called a puppy, which once again confirms her position.

12. Kurumi Saiki

Anime: The catastrophic life of Saiki K.

There is one episode that really showed how naive Kurumi is.

The Saiki family becomes a target for merchants who plan to take advantage of Kurumi's sensitive little heart.

They convince her to buy junk, claiming it will help her family in the long run.

It was both adorable and incredibly sad to see this continue, but thankfully she eventually got caught up in the situation and unleashed her anger on the scum seller trying his best to take her away.

11. Emilia

Anime: Re: Zero

This show would have ended after the first episode if not for Emilia's innocence.

Even when she has more serious problems, she simply cannot help but help those in need.

Five minutes after she learned his name, she rubbed the Subaru with a knee pillow. And once we saw her backstory, we knew it had always been that way.

She simply cannot but see the best in people and give them all her strength.

She may not be the best maid twin girl, but a charming princess.

10. Sylphy

Anime: Amagi Brilliant Park

I can't even describe what I would give to have Sylphy's brain for a week.

No mortal care will ever touch this character. And I am convinced that she has reached the infinite Nirvana.

All she wants to do is twirl her ponytail and pretend she's a helicopter.

The rest of the cast can have the most important conversations, while Sylphy will be on the sidelines acting out a pilot mission abroad.

Nothing can ever stop Sylphy's innocent and forgetful mind. And I envy her.

The only reason she's not number one is because of her limited screen time.

9. Mikuru Asahina

Anime: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Since Haruhi is an all-powerful creator and all, it makes sense that the main character agrees with what she says.

But others still have certain boundaries.

But not Mikuru. She is like a lost child who has never been taught the importance of another's danger.

She goes along with just about everything Haruhi wants, even though her body is somehow exposed towards the end.

She is an adorable little cinnamon bun that needs to be protected at all costs.

8. Tony Tony Chopper

Anime: one piece

Tony is the youngest of the Straw Hats and it definitely shows.

He is a very emotional guy who wants to stay out of the way and avoid any direct conflicts.

He sees the entire crew as his family and idols, crying at the mere suggestion that he should pretend not to be a Straw Hat.

Honestly, it's too cute, although thinking of everyone as your idol is at least an unpleasant mentality.

Luckily, he has matured since the timeskip, finally ready to state his opinion openly and clearly.

7. Mako Mankanshoku

Anime: Kill la Kill

Mako will never doubt anything in this world.

I swear she just agrees witheveryone not stopping for a second to think about the dangers she was putting herself in.

Hell, the fact that she saw a girl with a giant pair of scissors fighting a student body while half-naked and thinking, "Yeah, that looks like the kind of person I want to live with" demonstrates just how innocent Mako really is.

I say it like it's bad, even though she's one of my favorite characters.

6. Miriya and Isaac

Anime: Baccano!

This legendary duo has no idea what's going on, but they're making the most of it.

They just go with the flow, trusting each other more than any annoying little concepts like "common sense" and "general opinion."

Hell, they didn't even realize they were immortal until 70 years later.

Because whenever Miriya asks a question, she asks Isaac, and whenever Isaac has a question, he asks Miriya.

It's like an endless cycle of innocence, love, and wholeness.

And I could honestly watch it for the rest of my life.

5. Yui Hirasawa

Anime: KON!

If I had to choose one person to embody childlike innocence, it would be Yui.

She is in this world to have fun and completely ignores anything that gets in her way.

You know, things like fear, high ambition, pride, depression, etc. Yui says no to all of that and just plays to her tune.

You also just have to love her naivety as she legitimately thought that "easy music" meant music that was really simple.

You just don't often think in the real world with such an optimistic mindset.

She also has enough energy and hugs to end all the world's conflicts five times.

4. Mayuri Shiina

Anime: Steins; gate

Even if you've never watched Steins; Gate, you probably understand its plot better than Mayuri, even though she is the main character.

This is because Mayuri is as detached as physically possible and needs nothing more than to relax with her friends and see them all smile as she walks in with her trademark "too tour".

Everything from her visual design to her voice acting and character writing just screams comfort.

And I definitely understand why Okabe went to such lengths to save her.

3. Sawako Kuronuma

Anime: Kimi ni Todoke

Sawako is nothing but a saint, which is extremely ironic considering that everyone thinks she is a devil.

If you are bullied because they look a certain way, many people will become pessimistic and cynical, they will bite the world that has unfairly bit them. But Sawako just goes in the opposite direction.

Shebeyond good and gives all his strength to help others.

Although most people just run away from her kindness.

She is too useful for this world, and we should appreciate her for it.

2. Goku

Anime: Dragon Ball

Sometimes I really feel for Goku.

Despite the fact that he has two sons, I am convinced that he does not know where children come from.

The dude just doesn't understand anything but the battlefield.

You could convince him that alarm clocks grow on trees and he would probably take that delusion to his grave. The dude might just think of nothing but punches.

And as the series went on, it only got worse and worse!

By the time Dragon Ball Super came out, I was starting to wonder if anyone could just trick him into destroying the Earth or something like that.

1. Kafuka Fuura

Anime: Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei

Kafuki has some problems.

She is so naive that it goes beyond what the word is supposed to mean.

She literally sees a man hanging himself and thinks he wants to get taller.

And it's not like she's five years old or anything like that, she's just naive!

She could probably watch a documentary about World War II and walk out of it thinking concentration camps help you focus. It's absolutely insane how devoid of pessimism this character is and I think there's no doubt in saying that she deserves the number 1 spot on this list.
