Season 2 is filming now
On January 21, the second season was announced "Bridgertons» . Van Dusen tweeted a photo of the script while reading "Episode #201 'Capital R Rake'". Historically, "rakes" were men who were prone to debauchery and sexual effort. While we don't know who exactly this "rake" is, we can infer thatBridgerton Season 2's starts with the brashness and scandal we've come to expect.
Also recently, Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony, was spotted filming with the starsex education Simone Ashley, who joins the series as Kate Sharma, Anthony's love interest. (In the novel, her character's name is Kate Sheffield, but the creators decided she would be of Indian descent and changed her last name.) In the photo below, they are shown along with returning crew members Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton), Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton) and Ajoa Ando (Lady Danbury) – filming the scene on horse racing.
In another photo from the set, Jessica Madsen appears to be reading a pamphlet (most likely from Lady Whistledown herself) as two friends look at her. This season's costumes definitely look like they live up to the high bar that was set for the first season.
But production is now suspended due to Covid.
Although the series has been in production for some time, two recent cases of Covid have forced a halt to production. According todeadline, filming has now been put on hold "indefinitely" as the producers "set a schedule for a safe return amid the spread of the coronavirus across the UK in Delta." This happened afterhow teamBridgerton suspended production last week for 24 hours after their first case of Covid on set. Although a positive test last week came from crew members, interm , the length of this suspension fueled rumors that the second case of Covid came from the cast. Netflix, however, did not say if the positive test came from the cast or crew.
It's unclear when production will resume, but the Netflix and Shondaland teams are trying to figure out a way to get back to filming safely.
There are plenty of books for inspiration.
The show's first season focuses on the upcoming season of Daphne Bridgerton and her relationship with Duke Simon Bassett, but that's only part of the story. Vbest selling novelsBridgerton, written by Julia Quinn, explores the lives of all eight of the Bridgerton children, meaning there's a lot more source material for the second (and third, and fourth...) season. Series creator Chris Van Dusen says, “Part of the great thing is that these books create such a huge world full of rich characters. The way we make the series and the stories we tell allows us to tell so many stories that I really care about.”
Stars and creators are interested – well, most of them.
Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Bridgerton, says: “I love that [Daphne's] story ends very well; it's all connected at the end. Now I have a feeling that she will have to interfere in Anthony's personal life, because now it's his turn. I'm a hopeless romantic so I'm all for a happy ending."
New actors will join the season. Along with Ashley is Shelley Conn, who will play her mother. Other new faces to look forward to in Season 2 include Kalama Lynch, Charitra Chandran and Rupert Young..
However, when we return to the series, one familiar character will be missing. REGE-Jean Page, who played the Duke of Hastings, announced that he would not be returning toBridgerton -Much to the dismay of fans who fell hard for their character.
