Top 5 Game of Thrones books ranked worst to best

A screen version of A Song of Ice and Fire - the Game of Thrones TV series; the third season ended 2 months ago. Even re-viewing does not fully satisfy the interest and the only thing that remains to be done is to re-read the books, which is probably what many people are doing. The main thing is to decide what to read first. Even the most die-hard fans have to admit that some fantastic masterpieces are better than others. Such debates are visible in many forums and disturbing many minds. Below is a list from worst (least loved) to best (chosen). Let's get started without further ado.

5. "A Feast for Crows"

Probably most people would agree, after the first three books and five years of waiting, the novel is disappointing. The reason is not hard to understand. The previous book, A Storm of Swords, was full of action and adventure from your favorite characters, while A Feast for Crows is not eventful. Indeed, there are many characters' points of view regarding rumors of events across the Narrow Sea and beyond. Most of the chapters are devoted to Cersei, where she, without doing anything, creates one problem after another. The same can be said about the chapters about Sansa and about most of Samwell's chapters. There were not many moments for the development of the plot, which is a big disadvantage for a book of a thousand pages. There were developments for future books, but not many. Another drawback in the absence of chapters John, Tyrion and Daenerys. But they are beloved by many characters who survived, and most of the readers missed them. But you can also find pleasant moments. Shows the development of Jaime, his best qualities and becoming a successful leader. He was engaged in the siege of Riverrun - a truly immersive book dive. It is worth repeating: the book is a setting for future events awaiting the characters. People waited 5 years for the wrong thing. The book is good, but still the worst in the series.

4. "Battle of the Kings"

If George R.R. Martin's genius as a writer needs proof, then it's before you. Of the five books in the series, four have received top positions in this rating. Even the fifth book is quite enjoyable. The following books are one better than the other. If you are tired of the inaction of the "Feast of Vultures", you can always return to the "Clash of Kings". The book describes the events that took place after the execution of Ned Stark, and the main part of the action of the War of the Five Kings. Magic enters the scene: Daenerys dragons begin to fly, Stanis gains the protection of the Lord of Light and his Red Priestess, one of the five kings learns the power of magic. During the brotherly quarrels between Stanis and Renly, the King of the North, Theon takes Winterfell, and The Battle of the Blackwater - the book is an action game from start to finish, and the characters are shown in detail, especially Tyrion. You can trace his path from just a dwarf, the son of Tywin Lannister, to the cunning right hand, almost single-handedly defending King's Landing. Plus, it's just unforgettable to read about the growing forces of the northern army and the adventures of the Stark children throughout Westeros. Tyrion amazes with his intelligence and ability to lead, he first foresees that Theon will take power only with the aim of immediately losing it. At the same time, Daenerys wanders aimlessly around Quart, which is still a grandiose read.

3. "Dance with Dragons"

If you say you don't like the book, it’s easy to see where you’re driving. But there are those to whom she is extremely sympathetic. It's not perfect, some exciting parts were just cut out, but the second part is really epic. It's not very pleasant that the Battle of Winterfell and Maureen has been moved to the second part. The work was divided by the number of pages, however the book is masterfully written. No part leaves you indifferent. John becomes Lord Commander, trying to work effectively with the wildlings and others, which is good news. Great storyline about Davos going to White Harbor and bargaining with Manderly. Events in Winterfell are tense, and Rousse Bolton's allies are trying to resist the desire to kill each other. Tyrion crosses the Narrow Sea on his way to Daenerys and tries to fight the reigning Maureen. While Daenerys is considered by many to be insufferable in this part, her role as a leader is extremely important. There are chapters for almost every character in the book, which is great. It should be noted that not all installations of the "Feast of Vultures" have been developed. At the end of the book, I can't wait to find out what happened next in Winterfell, whether Davos will find Rickon, which will be on the Wall, on Maureen and in King's Landing.

2. "Game of Thrones"

The book is just perfect. Action, tension, characters, setting, relationships and risks are all perfect. Game of Thrones is one of the first epic fantasy games with multiple characters. Bastard Jon Snow, dwarf Tyrion Lannister, all new types of heroes are created here. They say the capture of Ned was predictable, but not his execution. All events will develop, the characters are very interesting, although not all are cute. Jaime's hatred of the Starks (especially Ned), Tyrion's abduction, Renly's relationship, John's departure to the Wall. The book introduces the reader to the Starks, engenders sympathy for them, and the end makes you cry. Even those who thought Ned was stupid could not remain indifferent. He may not be very smart, but Stark is noble and loved for it. The author made it clear that some of the characters are consumables. In many books there is a similar idea, but only in this one is realized. Therefore, readers are sincerely afraid for their favorite characters. It was difficult to build such tension, but Martin did it, created a new world full of different people, cultures and places, which has been captivating for 20 years.

1. "A Storm of Swords"

If Game of Thrones is perfect, then this book simply cannot be described in words. Most fans consider her the best. It has absolutely everything. If Clash of Kings is full of brutal action, and Game of Thrones is full of intriguing intrigues, then Tempest of Swords contains both. She pushed the boundaries of science fiction significantly. The transformation of Jaime Lannister into a beloved character is the work of a wonderful author. The infamous Bloody Wedding, where many characters died, makes you throw the book straight into the wall, but it's impossible not to read it to the end. Joffrey and Margaery's wedding, Sansa and Tyrion's wedding, Sansa's escape, Tyrion's trial, Arya and the Dog, Bran and Barg, Jaime and Brienne and the bear are literally the perfect book, one epic event after another. One of the best books. You are missing out on a lot if you haven't read it yet.
