Before I started watching anime, whenever someone said "witch", I imagined a shriveled old witch with some kind of poisonous fruit or something.

But after watching dozens of anime, I now just imagine pretty girls riding broomsticks.

To celebrate this evolution of mental imagery, we're going to count down some of the best witch-themed anime to wag your finger at.

The action of this show takes place during the 100-year war between England and France, and the main character is the witch Mary.

Maria isn't really a fan of all the bloodshed going on. Therefore, she begins to interrupt the soldiers and tries to make peace. How noble, right?

But then the heavens open and tell Mary that if she continues to interfere in human affairs, her powers will be taken away.

Also, if she loses her virginity, the same punishment applies. The name makes more sense now, doesn't it?

So Maria is not only trying to keep the peace, but also trying to keep it in her pants.

This show might not just be about witches, much less about wizards, sorcerers and everything else in between.

But witches still appear here and there. Plus, everyone is riding broomsticks, which really adds to that witchy aesthetic.

But if you really only want to see a witch, just look at Vanessa. She is as personable as can be. Well, except maybe alcoholism.
