25 most androgynous anime characters

The world of anime is very wild. Lots of androgyny, that's for sure.

Sometimes, in some series, the character's gender is not even specified, as it does not add anything to the character.

In this list, I want to share some of the most famous androgynous characters from anime shows and movies.

So, characters whose gender can't be determined, whose gender is often misunderstood on the show itself, or characters who simply don't identify with either gender. Let's check them out!

25. Nagisa Shiota

Anime: Assassin Class

At first glance, no one can accuse you of mistaking Nagisa for a girl, given that the character has very soft features and is very obedient (unless he wants to kill you).

And long hair can easily be confusing.

But this reversal of expectations is actually very important for Nagisa's character. As a (little spoiler alert) he was forced to look in that direction by his mother.

Because she always wanted a girl, she gave Nagisa an androgynous name, let his hair down, and made him wear girl clothes.

But, of course, all this does little to stop Nagisa from being one of the best killers and perhaps even the best kisser.

24. Saika Totsuka

Anime: My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU

In a series about finding yourself and working on your worldview, it was nice to have Saike as a character.

As the captain of a tennis club and an overall great athlete, Saika definitely fits the bill for the usual perception of masculinity.

However, it looks very feminine. And does not suffer from emotional constipation, as men are supposed to.

So his gender is questioned several times during the show.

He's such a nice person and both boys and girls adore him, so I think he strikes the perfect balance.

23. Crown

Anime: soul Eater

Krona's gender is completely ambiguous. This was never revealed in the show, and some have interpreted this fact as integral to their character.

You see, it was not easy for Krone to grow up. The mother constantly knocked them down.

This led Krona to question their self-esteem and even what the future held for them.

So in a way Cronas themselves are ambiguous.

They feel they cannot define themselves under the tyrannical boot of their mother.

Later, thank God, Krone will get better. Nakama power!

22. Envy
