16 Best Anime Scientists

The scientist is the image of knowledge.

One who peers into the secrets of our universe to find the reasons why things happen and how to use this new knowledge. These people are also archetypes of insanity.

People who cross any moral boundaries, conduct experiments and tests! Science is the driving force in life. In the media, however, it is the people who will create the superweapon to conquer this realm.

What about anime? Yes, there are a lot of scientists in anime too. So let's take a look at some of the best!

Whether it's a crazy doctor or a kind researcher, we've got it all.

16. Kurisu Makise

Anime: Steins; gate

We have a serious and sensible young lady here! As long as there is no madness or evil, just a normal explorer. Although Kurisu once died.

She was found murdered at the very beginning of the show, and the characters used funny time travel to, uh, bring her to life?

I'm not sure, but after a while she was found alive again, which denies all accusations of time travel.

She was recruited (well, not exactly) into Future Gadgets and was given a lab coat that she liked.

Kurisu is very, very sarcastic. Especially in a conversation with Okabe - she seems to dislike him a lot, I wonder why?

15. Lloyd Asplund

Anime: Code Geass

This is madness. Self-proclaimed sociopath (although he is not).

Lloyd believes that people are worthless. That they're just parts of a machine. Yet he genuinely cares about his comrades!

He also loves pudding. And honestly, that gives him a lot of extra points here.

Lloyddeeply immersed into science and studies/designs robots with revolutionary technologies. In fact, he is so immersed in the world that he will gladly sacrifice several hundred people to continue his research.

14. Akagi Ritsuko

Anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion

Shinji, get in the robot!

Now that it's out of my system, Ritsuko is NERV's chief scientist. She has a complicated family relationship, living in the shadow of her mother Naoko.

Her mother is a brilliant researcher and creator of the Magi supercomputer, which she used to immortalize her consciousness by copying her mind into it.

Yes, I understand Ritsuko. She has a pretty high bar to go!

13. Caesar the Clown

Anime: one piece

Oh my god, I love this design! Is not it?

Caesar is a mad scientist antagonist, the villain of an entire arc.

One with a reward of 300,000,000 berries, which is still around $264 million.

I… well, counted it with cabbage.

So, Caesar is definitely a scientist. To be precise, a nuclear physicist and a chemist.

Basic types to reverse evil and take over the world. It's also a little… er… gassy.

12. Shue Tucker

Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist

I hate him, you hate him, nobody likes him.

Shaw is an objectively terrible person, and thisgreat !

The show was badly written and the writers nailed it. Nothing will make you hate someone faster than killing a child and a dog at the same time!

A terrible creature - a chimera - made us all instantly hate Shau with every fiber of our being.

So, his research was, well, a complete hoax! His talking chimera was supposed to be a product of the mind, but he wasted human life for this purpose, in turn destroying sentient life for the sake of a semblance of a talking animal that cannot even sustain its own life.

Finally, send it on, thanks for coming to my talk Ted!

11. Harumi Kiyama

Anime: Some scientific railgun

She looks so insomniac. Mood goals.

Kiyama is a former teacher and current researcher.

She was an antagonist to later become a Naruto-style supporting member.

Kiyama is a great scientist, he even developed the "Top Level" - a technology that can be used to give or enhance supernatural powers.

Just imagine this in real life!

We'll have people using their powers to make sandwiches. Don't ask why, it's true.

10 Dr. Jenus

Anime: One Punch Man

Oh, cloning is cool. And there are no giant bugs at the behest of the council.

Janus is a brilliant researcher and creator of the method of cloning himself for pseudo-immortality.

In fact, his goal was quite noble - to create a race of superhumans that would match his intelligence - what a narcissist!

Genus has failed, even with the monster he's created since... well, Saitama is late for the sale...

So of course he wrapped everything up quickly!

9. Orochimaru

Anime: naruto

Orochimaru, the one who longs for your body, and perhaps the most sacred of your family techniques.

He's also part snake!

What's interesting is how the demonic creature from the legends...

He is also a researcher. One who seeks forbidden knowledge.

He tried but failed to achieve complete immortality, jumping from body to body, looking for a way to erase death! What a hefty goal, even though it fails. Like any great anime scientist.

8. Gate

Anime: Full Metal Panic

It's just crazy, just crazy evil.

Heeasy would kill any of his subordinates for the slightest mistake.

He is fierce and ruthless, extremely unreliable and fickle. Also a hyper-genius, able to determine military tactics based on the most mundane information.

He's also the antagonist of the second raid, a dirty weirdo - an overall terrible person, I suppose.

He also looks like he has a strong American accent, probably Southern. Don't be offended by just throwing it in there.

7. Franken Stein

Anime: soul Eater

Here we have a crazy doctor who almost killed his students to teach them a lesson.

And no, I don't want to "teach them a lesson". I mean literally the soul resonance lesson.

And for good reason: he is angry!

At the heart of this man is the creator of the chimeras from the movie Frankenstein - the one who resurrected (well, not exactly) his own brother with the parts he stole from the graves.

This man went crazy with that name, he even stuck a bolt in his brain to… uh, “help him think.”

6. Professor Oak

Anime: Pokemon

Pokémon! Gotta catch them all with science!

Oak is an integral part of our childhood.

He was the first Pokémon Professor in both the series and the games.

He had a profound effect on the series as a whole and was a constant presence on the show. I still hear "welcome back" from that damned Pokémon Snap lab.

He is an explorer. One whose goal is to complete the encyclopedia, the Pokedex. Not sure if he actually ever achieved that goal because we seem to be constantly finding more and more...

5. Hange Zoe

Anime: Attack of the Titans!

Studying the enemy is an important part of any war. And in the event of a war with the titans, this role fell to Zoya.

Zoe is a mad explorer whose sole purpose is to torture - I mean research the titans to find ways to defeat them.

And he does it with a happy gleam in his eyes!

Her fascination with the titans is so great that she used Erin for her own purposes - be it torturing him or simply forcing him to transform, all means are good if they unlock more knowledge!

4. Shinra Kishitani

Anime: Durarara!!

An unlicensed underground doctor is a great image for insanity.

But for some strange reason, Shinra is completely normal.

Strange, yes, but still sane!

He has a psychotic obsession with the supernatural. His main goal is to find ways to explain his abilities.

He also possessesincredible ability determine what emotions Celty is experiencing, even though she has no face. Science guys.

3. Rintaro Okabe

Anime: Steins; gate

Okabe! Great scientist (?) who discovered/created the PhoneWave (temporary name), a microwave oven with a phone attached to it that could somehow send messages to the past.

He is also the source of our main entertainment in the show - for example, a cheerful Englishman!

Rintaro is the main story character with unique abilities and incredible intelligence. Plus, he's a crazy bastard.

2. Senku

Anime: Dr. Stone

This man.

This man counted3715 years in seconds.

It's not just dedication, it's resilience. Or madness.
He is also so ingenious that he can build a rocket at 16!

I have never had such high achievements at 16, this guy makes me look lazy.

1. Kisuke Urahara

Anime: Bleach

My favorite character is without a doubt.

A great explorer and a complete mystery, Kisuke dabbles in the black market business. And in all sorts of behind-the-scenes affairs.

He is a mystery!

He used to be the captain of the Gotei 13 and Mayuri Kurotsuchi's teacher.

Naturally, he also founded a research center.

Kisuke trained Ichigo, he created the Hogyoku, probably the greatest creation of all time, and he is the reason the Magician exists.

He is extremely powerful and has such incredible connections that he will destroy you without even touching you. Scary guy, brilliant scientist.
