(« Peacock" , June 3). This British comedy about a Muslim female punk band deserves attention simply because it insists on changing stereotypes. In other films/series about the Muslim community, parents always insist on finding spouses for their children, but inWe Are Lady Parts the band's lead guitarist, Amina (Anjana Vasan), sets out to find a husband, while her mother encourages her to take her time. Some Americans tend to think of the hijab as a symbol of oppression, but there's nothing oppressive about the band's tough manager Momtaz (Lucy Shorthouse), who wears a headscarf and niqab through which she constantly blows vape smoke.We are the female partsNot only does he seem to be a reference point for representing Muslim women on TV, but he is full of energy and just fun to watch. -Jen Cheney

The result is a surreal drama/thriller about the widow Lisey Landon (Julianne Moore), whose author-husband (Clive Owen) has left behind several potential manuscripts that a pushy professor (Ron Cephas Jones) is so eager to get his hands on that Lisey could be in danger if she won't let them go. First season "Love, Victor" , a gay coming-of-age story taken from the movie "Love, Simon" felt like Goldilocks looking for the right tone: Too grown-up for the Disney+ that the show was written and filmed for, it ended up on Hulu, where its cute YA storylines can seem comparatively boring. The second season, in which Victor recently got to know his friends and family, seems like a chance for the show to capitalize on the opportunities to be on a new platform and hopefully delve deeper into the reality of being a teenager. Interesting narrative possibilities include Victor's strained relationship with his parents (Ana Ortiz does a great job as his conflicted mother) and the show's chance to show teenage sexuality beyond chaste kissing sessions. Judging by the titles of the Hulu episodes, there is an episode called "Sex Cabin", so Victor, welcome to the world of action, more likenormal people . – JM

(Starz, June 13) A sort of side extension from the original Sundance film,Blindspotting brings Jasmine Keefa Jones, who played Rafael Casal's character's girlfriend, into the spotlight. When Miles is arrested, Ashley moves in with her half-sister and mother, played by Helen Hunt. The movie tried to do a lot at the same time as its comedy-drama take on life in Oakland, and the show seems to have just as much on its mind, albeit with more space to explore it all. Unique Alchemy "Rick and Morty has always been based on a combination of Dan Harmon's meta-genre parodic precision and Justin Roiland's existential questioning with excited madness. Now he's back from the TV show. Gordon-Levitt created, directed and starred inMovie "Mr Korman", where he plays a fifth grade public school teacher in the San Fernando Valley who longed to pursue a career in music. Apple describes the series as a largely aggressive attack on millennials: "The sister drama speaks to our current generation of 30-year-olds - rich with good intentions, poor on student loans and striving to become true adults before they die." The CW drama is always off-the-wall, sometimes delightful, sometimes tedious, but it retains its ability to veer towards wild genre knockoffs (at the moment it looks like aliens are involved) and it will definitely serve as an absurd musical number or two. -JM
