Best Sci-Fi Movies

It's the perfect genre for our times, we already have a lot of sci-fi movies that explore what it's like to be human, especially human living in chaos. There's an android seeking to understand the past, a monster trying to be heard, and a group of criminals struggling to maintain their humanity in deep space.

Below are the best sci-fi movies.

Alita: Battle Angel

Actors:Rosa Salazar, Mahershala Ali, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly.

Plot:Robert Rodriguez made this weird-looking film about an android woman he finds in a trash heap, resurrected and raised by a loving surrogate scientist father. As the futuristic world is under constant threat, she realizes that the key to its survival may lie in finding out where she came from. Key quest!

Captain Marvel

Actors:Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Lashana Lynch, Jude Law, Annette Bening, Gemma Chan.

Plot:Shortly before the release of Avengers: End Game, we finally got to know the origin story of the most powerful Avenger of all: Captain Marvel. Carol Danvers, also known as Cap, played by Brie Larson, is a fighter pilot who uses a secret alien power to save Earth from an intergalactic war. Casual.

High society

Actors:Juliette Binoche, Robert Pattinson, André Benjamin, Mia Goth

Plot:A group of criminals serving life sentences are sent on a rocket ship to search for alternative power sources from the black hole, but Dr. Dibs of Binoche also uses them for various experiments (many involving artificial insemination and conception in space). It's bloody, trippy, sexy and very weird - and the way its timeline unfolds will keep you guessing the true nature of the journey until the very end. Directed by French author Claire Denis.

Detective Pikachu

Actors:Kathryn Newton, Judge Smith and, of course, Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu. What else do you need to know?

Plot:One reviewer called it not viciously, "insanely weird". What do you expect from a live-action Pokémon movie in which Pikachu is a rude, resentful detective who can't remember anything and helps a boy find his missing father? This is strange! And also a genius. But the question remains: is Pikachu hot?

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Actors:Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Bradley Whitford.

Plot:Sure, the Godzilla movies can hit or miss in terms of actual content, but the spectacle never ends. And this part is not easy: all the titans of the Godzilla universe, including my girlfriend Mothra, came to play, and only Godzilla can protect the Earth from other giant monsters. Perfect food for summer activities.

Zombieland: Control Shot

Actors:Basically the entire cast of the first film, but ten years older than it. That means Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Abigail Breslin, Jesse Eisenberg - plus, according to IMDB, Bill Murray will be there again. (This is especially shocking to those who saw the first one.)

Plot:A funny, delightfully brutal story of survival in a post-apocalyptic world populated by zombies. The first movie smashed a lot of classic zombie movies apart (seriously, why has no one ever looked in the backseat?!), and was ultimately about holding on to humanity as the best way to survive. It will be determined what the new version will be about, but we are very excited to know.

Lighthouse

Actors:Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson.

Plot:Although the story of two men trapped in a lighthouse premiered at Cannes to rave reviews, the film's descriptions are still vague. Reviewers called it extremely weird, dark, gory, and also oddly hilarious? Robert Pattinson has inexplicably become the king of weird but brilliant sci-fi stories, so subscribe to us.

Warning

Actors:Alice Eve, Alex Pettyfer, Lana Condor, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Benedict Samuel, Charlotte Le Bon.

Plot:According to Deadline, Warning "explores loneliness, death, and the meaning of life as very different lives collide in intertwining stories set on Earth in the near future." So it sounds a bit like Black Mirror, plus it has a stellar cast of hotties.
