Finland is renowned for its excellent education system, low levels of corruption, very high literacy rates, and a relatively small income gap between the top and bottom of society. A factor in longevity is work-life balance.

From this it is not difficult to understand why Finland is one of the happiest countries in the world. If the city is not yours, tourists may well be enjoying some of the stunning scenery of the Nordic country that Finland is famous for.

3. Iceland

Iceland is a great example for every country. Given its turbulent recent history, it is surprising that Iceland is currently ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world. Its placement shows how much positive can be done from what seems to be the most difficult task at the moment.

4. Switzerland

With the advent of Switzerland, the Scandinavian monopoly is broken into the happiest countries in the world. Her inclusion in the top five is also a little surprising, since at first glance Switzerland is in many ways different from other happy countries in the world. A country that includes one of the most expensive cities in the world and has long been renowned for painting the jet setter dog, its ski slopes and numerous fashion boutiques.

What really has in common with the other happiest countries on our list is an abundance of natural beauty. Alps, mountain lakes, picturesque towns and villages, hearty local cuisine - a paradise for adventurers and sports lovers. Switzerland fully deserves a place on the list of the happiest countries in the world.

5. Denmark

Denmark is officially considered the happiest country in the world. Over the past few years, many people have become aware of this fact. In fact, the Danish word, hygee (coziness), defines this uniquely high level of happiness.

Hygee can be loosely translated as coziness, but there is also an emphasis on how Danes really enjoy simple things. When you think about it, you wonder how Scandinavia, with its constantly cold weather and darkness, can be such a happy place. People here, obviously, are able from birth to rely on some kind of inner resilience in order to be able to see the light in things.

For the lucky tourists, Denmark is a great stopover. All tourists should observe and explore, not just enjoy the place. If whole parts of the world can be truly happy as a collective, there is no reason why others cannot join them.
