You will need a few supplies to start making chocolate suckers.

  • Chocolate - best to usemeltingchocolate, almond bark or chocolate bars because chocolate melts and hardens quickly and you don't have to worry about tempering it.
  • lollipop molds - choose a shape that matches the theme of your party or holiday. There are TONS to choose from! I used thisseahorse suction cup mold.
  • Chocolate melter (or microwave) – melting pot for chocolate not absolutely necessary, but it makes the job of melting the chocolate and keeping it warm and flowing much easier. If you don't have a chocolate melting pot, you'll have to keep heating the chocolate in the microwave to warm it up and turn it out right. Thanks to the melting pot, it keeps the chocolate at the perfect temperature for pouring.
  • lollipop sticks – size 4 inches is the correct size for plastic molds for chocolate suction cups.
  • Clear plastic bags for lollipops
  • dust for glitter (optional). Glitter dust adds color and a nice sheen to your chocolate cups and is available in many different colors.

Melt chocolate

First you need to melt the chocolate. if you haveMelting Pot forchocolate, just pour the chocolate into the melter, turn it on and stir every few minutes until the chocolate melts. The chocolate will stay warm and will be ready to use automatically!

To melt chocolate in the microwave, follow the directions on the chocolate packaging.

If your chocolate is too thick after it's all melted, you can always add some fat to it. Just add a spoon to make it more liquid. Add more if necessary.

Pour chocolate into lollipop molds

Placelollipop in every spot insuction cup mold. You don't need to add cooking spray to the mold because the chocolate will pop out easily on its own when it cools.

Once the chocolate has reached the desired consistency, pour the chocolate into the lollipop molds with a large spoon. Make sure you add enough chocolate to cover the stick.

As each lollipop cavity fills with chocolate, I like to gently lift the mold and tap it against the countertop to remove air bubbles from the chocolate.

Setting lollipops

Place the chocolate lollipop mold in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. This will help the chocolate cool and harden faster. Do not leave chocolate candies in the refrigerator for too long, otherwise the chocolate may crumble.

Taking out the lollipops

To take the lollipops out of the mould, you can pull each lollipop out one per stick. Cool chocolate suckers pop right out of the mold, leaving you with the perfect chocolate design that is SO easy to achieve!

Use of edible glossy dust on chocolate candies

If you want to take your chocolate candies to the next level, you can add edible glitter dust to the surface to give them a nice shimmery sheen and some color.

I made my pretty seahorse mermaid party candies out of melting white chocolate. The white color was a bit boring, but I knew I wanted to customize each seahorse to be a slightly different color. For this I used colored glossy dust.
