Spotify now lets PC users download full albums

Spotify now allows users to download albums in their desktop app with the latest update. However, only premium members will be able to download albums and playlists, while free members will only be able to download podcasts. Previously, users could only download playlists on the desktop app. Along with this, the company updated the desktop user interface as well as the web client late last month. The update should be available for all devices soon.

In a message on the support websiteSpotify the music streaming service announced that desktop users will now be able to download albums in addition to the playlists that were previously available. However, this feature is only for premium Spotify account holders, while free account holders will only be able to download podcasts. To download an album, users first need to go to the albums page and click the download slider button at the top of the song list.

Last month Spotifyupdated user interface its desktop and web client, which moved the search bar to the left corner of the screen in the first place. It also improved the playlist creation tools by adding the ability to drag and drop songs into the playlist. The music streaming site also added synchronized lyrics for listeners in India.

Another Spotify update last month now shows users their recently played music, podcasts and news feed right on their home screen. The Recently Played tab displays the playback history up to three months ago. However, podcasts and news feed are only available to premium users. Along with that, Spotify has added new personalized mixes for its users based on genres, artists and decades. The new mixes are named accordingly - Artist Mix, Genre Mix and Decade Mix. Each mix has a set of six playlists.
