Top 10 Movies Set on an Airplane

10. Illusion of flight (2005)

On a long-haul flight, a mother (Jodie Foster) discovers that her daughter is missing. The film is set on an Elgin 474 aircraft that Foster's character was involved in creating. It's a massive double-decker jet that ironically looks almost identical to the real-life Airbus A380 that will enter service just a few years later. In the film, Foster must find her daughter and find out why she was kidnapped. This is a film with a lot of tension and anticipation, and with Jodie Foster delivering a great performance.

9. Airport (1970)

In this 1970 disaster movie, a massive snowstorm hits the fictional Lincoln International Airport in Chicago. A flight attendant and an injured war veteran are forced to land the plane on their own.

The film is completely hysterical and has become much more popular and recognizable than the very films it satires on. From hilarious dialogue to wacky jokes, it feels like SNL has stolen a feature film. The result is absolute absurdity and fun.

7 Serpentine Flight (2006)

You have to appreciate a movie that doesn't even try to come up with a creative title, but instead tells you exactly what you're about to see. The plot of the film revolves around a South Pacific Airlines transoceanic flight, where a box of venomous snakes are released that kill everyone on board and bring down the plane. Bad game, bad graphics and bad story. But it's kites on a plane with Samuel L. Jackson. What else is the reason you need to watch this movie?

6. Crew (2012)

Crewwas based on the real-life crash of Alaska Airlines Flight 261, in which a mechanical failure caused the aircraft to flip over completely. The film earned Washington an Oscar nomination.

5. Night flight (2005)

Night flight marked an important moment in Wes Craven's career. It was his first big hit after years of criticizing films such as "Scream 3" and "Damned". A man named Jackson (Cillian Murphy) sits next to her and tells her that he needs her help in a terrorist plot and if she doesn't help, her father will be killed.

Instead of using the plane as a danger itself, the plane is used as a claustrophobic, inevitable situation for Lisa. The film is like a cat and mouse story that takes place inside a single plane. As a result, Craven won."Night flight" received positive reviews and became a box office hit.

3. Con Air (1997)

When a prison charter plane picks up a group of prisoners, things go horribly wrong. The film's cast also includes Nicolas Cage, John Cusack, John Malkovich, Steve Buscemi, Ving Rhames and Dave Chappelle, just to name a few.

Even more interesting is that the plot of the film is based on reality. When terrorists hijack an Air Force One plane, it's up to one president to make them pay. In the film, Harrison Ford plays President (and veteran) James Marshall. He uses his past military training to explain to the hijackers that they have contacted the wrong politician. Cheesy, over the top, butohhh how well. The film became one of the highest-grossing films of the 90s, grossing over $315 million.
