TOP 25 movies worth watching. Part 2

Movies have the ability to unite us, give us an outlet for emotions we didn't even know we needed to express, and give us a simple and enjoyable escape for a few hours. They broaden our horizons, deepen our imaginations, relieve stress and, at best, give us a sense of ourselves. Needless to say, many films have the potential to change the way we think about life. And the films on this list are perhaps the best at this.

Also don't miss: TOP 25 movies worth watching. Part 1

13. Fight Club

"One of the most controversial and talked about films of the 1990s," Fight Club has had an incredible impact on popular culture.

And overnight, Tyler Durden's line "The first rule of Fight Club is not to tell anyone about Fight Club" became one of the most popular quotes of the decade.

12. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

While "I'm your father" is a fairly common pop culture reference, it's hard to remember that until the release of Empire in 1980, fans didn't know that Luke and Leia were twins.

Also, no one knew that Darth Vader was their father. This is "Star Wars" at its best: a broken heart, daring declarations of love and loss of limbs.

11. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Only the second film, which received all five major Academy awards, almost twenty years later, "The Silence of the Lambs" followed suit. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest became a major hit.

It was believed to be so good that it was shown in some Swedish cinemas for 11 years in a row. No wonder this is one of the best movies of all time!

10. Singing in the rain

The film tells the story of some of Hollywood's brightest stars, Gene Kelly is the star of this classic film, and yes, it's an iconic scene, truly iconic ...

9. Spirited Away

Even if you are not interested in Japanese culture and anime, Hayao Miyazaki's films have something to please you. Spirited Away perfectly captures why his films are so adorable. The second highest grossing anime of all time, Spirited Away is a beautiful dark tale about a girl who stumbles upon an abandoned amusement park.

She crosses the realm of the gods and must not only save herself, but also save her parents, who have turned into pigs. The film won the 2003 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and remains an example of why fairy tales aren't necessarily meant for young children.

8. Schindler's List

Based on Thomas Kenili's novel Schindler's Ark, Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List has not only won seven Academy Awards, but has become one of the greatest films of the century.

In it, Spielberg chronicles the life of Oskar Schindler, a World War II businessman in Germany who saved the lives of thousands of Jews by offering them jobs.

7.12 angry men

Known for being filmed almost entirely in one location, "12 Angry Men" prompted the jury to make a unanimous decision. When they first entered the deliberation room, 11 of the 12 men had already made a verdict decision before juror # 8 began to raise issues that could be considered legitimate doubt.

This is a wonderful view of human nature and the various motives that we all cite. It wasn't until the film hit television long after its disappointing box office performance that it achieved legendary status.

6. Metropolis

The first full-length sci-fi film, it is also considered one of the best silent films. Fritz Lang's Metropolis was released in 1927 and contains what many of us still love and expect from good science fiction: a dystopian future and an ever widening class divide.

In addition, the film featured special effects that were ahead of their time and a love story that crosses social boundaries. Anyone who appreciates films should watch at least one silent film, and if the thought of silent films seems boring to you, you will change your mind after watching.

5. Pulp Fiction

No list of "best films" would be complete without Tarantino's 1994 film starring John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and Umai Thurman. Stylistically, "Pulp Fiction" changed people's opinion about "Independent" cinema, bringing the genre to a new spectacular level.

Three different stories are woven in chronological order and send you on a strange, superbly brutal journey - that's all you didn't expect from a movie. It was nominated for four Academy Awards and won Best Original Screenplay.

4. Gone with the Wind

First of all, "Honestly my dear, I don't give a damn" was the first damn word ever spoken on screen. Secondly, Vivian Lee's performance as Scarlett is something to see to be appreciated. The epic film, released in 1939, follows the life of Scarlett O'Hara, a southern beauty who grew up on a plantation during the Civil War.

It was the first film to be filmed entirely in color (The Wizard of Oz partially in black and white) and won 8 Academy Awards, including the first Academy Award for African American Best Supporting Actress Hattie McDaniel as Mom

3. The Shawshank Redemption

Based on Stephen King's short story The Shawshank Redemption, the film initially flopped at the box office when it was released in 1994. It opened for widespread release on the same day as Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, which beat a rival for the box office.

We don’t have time to go into a long backstory of how this came about, but it’s interesting to note that the role of Andy Dufrens almost passed on to Tom Cruise, who would have made this film completely different. The story of two unlikely friends who escaped from prison has become a favorite for more than one generation.

2. Godfather

The Godfather, as one of the most respected films in history, has been repeatedly voted one of the best films ever made.

Never before has any film described the crime family the way it did, and in addition to portraying some of the greatest actors, screenwriters and directors of all time, it has had a significant impact on Western culture.

1. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Despite the exclusion of Tom Bombadil, The Fellowship of the Ring is considered by many to be the closest to the book.

The filmmakers didn't hesitate to go vabank back at a time when Tolkien's epic fantasy just seemed like it couldn't be technically realized. For this reason, the filmmakers accomplished a rare feat, receiving praise from both old fans and new ones.

The film turned out to be a masterpiece in almost every sense: gorgeous music, wonderful special effects, stunning landscapes New Zealand Middle earth. The film has both funny moments and moments that squeeze out a genuine tear. Many scenes from the film were overgrown with memes and became canonical. The influence of The Lord of the Rings on the entire fantasy genre cannot be overstated. There is no doubt that if it were not for the success of The Lord of the Rings, we would never have seen "Game of Thrones" in the form in which it is, and many other projects in the fantasy genre.
