Captain Phillips (2013)

This survival film is also based on a true story in 2009, when Somali pirates attacked the Maersk Alabama container ship in the Indian Ocean and took the ship's captain hostage. The film raises the issue of the safety of sea vessels due to the frequent attacks of pirates.

Lives are on the line as negotiators try to free Captain Richard Phillips from the hands of Somali pirates. This exciting film will certainly make you wonder what you would do if you were the heroes.

The Pursuit of Happiness (2006)

"In pursuit of happiness" touches to the depths of the soul. You might be wondering why this movie made it to the list of survival movies at all. The fact is that the picture reveals the harsh truth about life without a penny, without a home, with tons of bills to pay and children to take care of. In this film, Chris Gardner, played by Will Smith, tries to get a job at a very prestigious American brokerage firm while homeless.

This movie is a must-see. It's pretty simple, well-shot, and is great at motivating you to achieve your goals.

Rogue (2000)

It's the epitome of the ultimate survival movie, featuring an airplane wreck, a desert island, and a man with tenacity and ingenuity. Tom Hanks plays the modern-day Robinson Crusoe in this award-winning drama, where he tries to survive with a volleyball and escape from the island he was drifted onto.

Many of you have seen this film more than once, and you probably remember how difficult it is to get fire by rubbing two sticks. If you haven't watched The Outcast, then put everything aside and start right now!

Survive (1993)

Survive (also known as The Living) is another must-see movie if survival is your strong point. This film raises the eternal question: what would you do if your plane crashed near the devil on Easter cakes without a supply of food. The picture is based on the real events of 1972, when the plane carrying the Uruguayan national football team crashed in the Andes, and the survivors were trapped in mountain snows.

A terrifying plot twist occurs when the characters in the film understand: either they will die, or they will go to the most incredible to save them.

Into the Wild (2007)

Into the Wild is a survival film based on a young man's wanderings through North America and the beautiful but merciless wild Alaska.

This film made the list not only because it talks about survival in the wild, but also because it reveals the theme of seclusion and exclusion from society, when a person relies only on himself and his help. This is what many survivalists think about when looking for ways to improve their skills.

Open Sea (2003)

Imagine that on the weekend you decided to go scuba diving, and now the boat brought you to the place, left you, and for some reason sailed away without you. Oh yeah, the water is also teeming with sharks. It's not going to be easy for you, is it?

This is exactly what happens in "Open Water", based on the true story of American newlyweds on their honeymoon in Australia, where, you guessed it, they were accidentally left in open water in the middle of the ocean. This is a great survival thriller.

The White Flurry is a sudden, incredibly strong gust of wind that can turn a serene ocean into a real disaster with tremendous destructive power.

Fight (2011)

In this survival film, the plot revolves not only around the plane crash in Alaska, but also around a thrilling confrontation between the surviving heroes and a pack of wolves, who carefully hunt down the heroes.

The picture very well demonstrates the teamwork of a wolf pack, the process of surrounding prey. It is almost impossible to survive in a situation where you are being hunted by a natural predator in its natural habitat. Definitely a movie worth watching.

On the verge (1997)

We are back in Alaska, which has been the setting for many good survival films. This time, another crashed plane and three people are waiting for us, trying to find a survivor in an area full of bears. Will Smith plays Robert Neville, a US Army virologist who turns out to be almost the only survivor on earth. The film immerses us in the protagonist's forays, providing food, exploring the surroundings, building a thorough safety and security system that every survivor would think of in such conditions. The film perfectly shows how the hero copes with loneliness, because he does all this without outside help. However, this loneliness is interrupted by intruders.

Hope will not fade (2013)

And we return to the ocean, where we see a detailed story of the survival of a lonely sailor who found himself on a life raft after his boat was destroyed by a storm.

How is this movie different from the rest on the list? The fact that you will not hear many words in this intimate picture. Even Tom Hanks' character in Rogue exchanged lines with his volleyball. Here, attention is focused on the actions that the main character takes in order to survive, drifting in the sea and facing death.

The film has received numerous awards for its excellence, accuracy and direction.

Everest (2015)

kThe film is based on the 1996 Chomolungma disaster, where eight climbers were killed while descending from the summit. The film demonstrates the incredible dangers that exist on commercial expeditions to Mount Everest, where, despite the experience of the guides, the weather can radically change and create dangerous conditions.

Road (2009)

If there was a single survival film to choose from, The Road would surely take over. The action takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, where most of the population has died out, lawlessness reigns, the streets are controlled by gangs, and it is impossible to find food.

In the midst of this chaos, father and son are fighting for life, hiding from cannibals and robbers in the hope of meeting people who have preserved their moral character.
