11 makeup mistakes 90% of women make

If you wear makeup, you are probably making mistakes. You may have already fixed some of them, but you have not even heard about others. But the more you know the better, so check out 11 common mistakes women make when applying makeup.

Perhaps you are familiar with one of these errors - or even all. You're in luck: we offer the easiest way to fix everything.

1. Incorrectly chosen make-up base

The wrong shade of makeup base is a common problem for many women. We all do this: for testing, we put the base on the hand or on the wrist, and it seems that it fits perfectly. But don't think that the tone of your hand and your face is the same, usually it is not. Unfortunately, this error will be very noticeable, especially in bright daylight.

In order not to be mistaken with the shade of the foundation, and also not to draw yourself a terrible dividing line between the chin and neck, test the product on the neck or cheek. The decollete area is also suitable. Choose a base that will be completely invisible on the skin, and do not forget that it must go from the chin line to the neck.

2. Lips not prepared for applying makeup

Before you apply foundation to your face, you use a base primer - but what about lips? Do not leave your lips unkempt, they also need love and care. A light moisturizer or lip balm will work wonders for plumping lips and preparing them so that the lipstick will fit smoothly and evenly. But resist the temptation to use a foundation for this purpose: it's not made for that and can dry out your lips.

3. Excessive use of powder

Do not get carried away by powdering the nose. Powder is an effective tool for masking oily sheen and evening out complexion, but an excessive amount of it will give the skin a far from blooming, but on the contrary, even a ghostly look. Plus, powder can make you look older by highlighting fine lines. The best way to use powder is only in the T-zone of the face and a little on the cheeks.

4. Too much self-tanning

Set the brush aside and move away from the self-tanner. Going overboard with self-tanning is easy, and the result is unnatural looking skin covered in dark shadows. In the worst case, you can achieve similarities with the Oumpa Loomps from the movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". The best way to avoid this mistake is to use self-tanning very sparingly and only on those places where the sun's rays naturally fall: on the forehead and cheekbones, slightly touching the nose and chin.

5. Clown blush

By gently emphasizing the cheekbones with blush, you can create the impression of a girlish blush on the skin. But you need to remember that it should look as natural as possible, in other words, just imperceptible. Another common mistake many women make is cheeks that are too roughened, not only adding a few years, but also reminiscent of clown makeup.

There are two ways to make this mistake. The first is to overdo it with the amount of blush on the "apples" of the cheeks, creating stains. And the second is to apply blush in a continuous line from lips to ears. Instead, apply a light dab of blush to the "apples" of your cheeks, slightly touching the upper part, and blend them well. The result should be a pleasant blush, nothing more.

It is also important to make sure that the shade of blush suits you. For fair skin, use light pink and peach tones; for darker skin, use coral, orange, bronze or cherry tones.

6. Too much sun

Many makeup bases and concealers already contain products that protect the skin from UV rays. But trying to save money on sunscreen is another common mistake. Make sure your skin is protected, especially if you are going to be in the sun. For effective protection against radiation, use a moisturizer with an SPF of at least 25 before applying the foundation. You may find a non-greasy sunscreen powder that can be used throughout the day for best results.

7. Changing seasons

Usually our wardrobe is divided into what we wear in spring and summer, and what we wear in winter and autumn. But do you do the same with makeup? Probably not if you're like most women. As a rule of thumb, everything from skin color to skin condition changes with the seasons, and your makeup should take those changes into account. Test your foundation regularly to see if your chosen tone is still right for you. Skin tends to get drier in winter, so you can opt for cream versions of eyeshadow and blush. In summer, a light powder will perfectly mask sweat streaks.

It will also be useful to update the color palette of your cosmetic bag depending on the season. In winter and autumn, dark, rich shades look great, such as thick red on the lips and brighter eyeliner. Light, luminous shades: soft pink, coral - are suitable for summer and spring.

8. Overly accentuated eyebrows

A picture frame can change the whole perception of a work of art. The same is true for the eyebrows, they serve as a frame for the face. Properly accentuated eyebrow beauty can make your entire look a masterpiece. The mistake that many make is that thin, plucked eyebrows are not in vogue anymore. On the other hand, improperly colored eyebrows also look unnatural.

If you are a brunette, a good choice for your eyebrows is a shade one to two shades lighter than your hair. Owners of light hair should choose a shade a couple of shades darker for their eyebrows. When coloring your eyebrows, don't just draw an artificial line. For beautiful, well-defined brow lines, it's best to do quick, short strokes using an eyebrow pencil or liner. And do not try to replace these products with eyeliner: it will give too rough a line and tone.

9. Eyes like a raccoon

The wildlife is beautiful, but this is not the case with raccoon-eye makeup. This is not about what happens when you go to bed without rinsing the paint from your eyes (which should also not be allowed). No, eye-catching raccoon coloring is usually the result of your eyeliner getting too bold. Eyeliner is used to accentuate and visually enlarge the eyes, creating the illusion of a wider lash line. But the key to success is moderation.

Some dramatic looks, such as cat eyes, require a more relaxed use of eyeliner. But many women go overboard by drawing unnatural black circles around their eyes. Not only is this artificiality striking, it also makes you look older than your age. Make sure to blend the eyeliner up to the lash line to avoid this effect. You can experiment with brown and even navy blue or green eyeliner, it will give the look less harshness than black.

10. Lip contour too visible

Overuse and / or misuse of lip liner is another common mistake. Not only is the visible lip liner mark old-fashioned, it can make you look older if it bleeds into the tiny lines around your lips, highlighting them. But this mistake can be easily corrected by simply matching the contour of the same tone or with lipstick, or with the color of your lips. Or paint your lips first with a contour, and on top of it - with lipstick. And no lines!

11. A conspicuous concealer

Concealer's purpose is to hide. But women often make mistakes when choosing a shade and how to apply concealer, and as a result, they only draw attention to what they wanted to hide. For example, if you want to hide dark circles, you use a concealer that is too light, which looks like light crescents under the eyes. The best option would be to choose a shade that is identical or just a tone lighter than your skin.

Another mistake is misapplication. It will not work just to cover fine wrinkles with concealer. On the contrary, when dry and cracking, the trace of the product will draw attention to these wrinkles. Instead, use a moisturizer and let it absorb before using concealer in the inner corners of your eyes for a youthful glow. A concealer with reflective particles is ideal for this area.
